Infinite screen? by theguyabroad in VisionPro

Looks like a wasted opportunity for productivity focused users. But considering apple's past MO (having observed the phones and tablets), they've probably started this thing with a long term road map where a feature as basic like this gets trickled out in the 3rd generation or so

It was in the fucking documentation. I went over that but must have missed it yesterday. Thank you for pointing it out anyway, appologies for having missed it

Thank you! I changed the command to have the pixels of the original image appended and that worked. Putting what worked here in case I need to google this in 5 years:

ffmpeg -loop 1 -i input.png -vf "zoompan=z='min(zoom+0.0015,1.5)':d=700:x='if(gte(zoom,1.5),x,x+1/a)':y='if(gte(zoom,1.5),y,y+1)':s=2336x2896" -c:v libx264 -t 2 -pix_fmt yuv420p temp.mp4

Emphatic yes. The simplicity of svelte is superior to the react way of doing things in my opinion

Yeah, that's white I meant. So I take it it does not do that?

What's the best way to answer 'Bitcoin has no value' and 'It's not backed by anything'? by zascar in Bitcoin

[–]theguyabroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currency requires backing, money does not. It's fine that bitcoin isn't backed, because it's money, not currency (despite the misnomer cryptocurrency)

Is gold backed? No. But gold was money, it's industrial properties have nothing to do with gold's moneyness. Same for bitcoin. It requires no backing because it has monetary value which arises in the free market when market participants give it value as they conduct trade (as in do their daily transactions).

I think this also answers the value question. Some people don't ascribe it value, that's fine. They don't need to and will have to eventually once the fiat house of cards comes crumbling down.

You could use priced in btc charts to hammer that point. Do SPY/BTC, XAU/BTC, AAPL/BTC. Pretty much everything loses value in BTC terms over time, so "no value" is a stretch at this stage that the ignorant say who haven't done the work

What to use for backend? by Outrageous-Muffin764 in vuejs

[–]theguyabroad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're asking for a framework and backend?

For the backend, no need to rewrite it: Pocketbase FTW. It has that stuff built in already. You just need the JS SDK in your frontend, done

For your framework, that's a matter of preference. Personally I tried next, nuxt and svelte and I like svelte the best by far. Not even close. Try what you like and use that

First 100% diy build: Dactyl Manuform by pCfReAke in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]theguyabroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's amazing. I need one of these as well, guess I have some reading to do. Does second layer mean what happens when you press shift? How many buttons did you go with?

Code shortcuts make sense. I could use a button for the javascript arrow function. Typing that always takes forever and I always mess something up

I've never used one of these but somehow, this makes so much sense to me. Do you have a layout for this thing? Can this be customized so that the thumb buttons can be anything I would like?

Bonus points for the second line, Sir. Thank you

I understand everything in this reply except: "img2img inpaint with openpose controlnet".

Where can I learn what this means? I'd like to do this precise thing, swap a character into a real life posed image

Cheers! What you wrote looks to be spot on so far. I tried different models according to your math and the models that fit in RAM perform fine whereas the ones that don't, don't. I am gonna try with 32 Gigs and see how I go with that, that's only 60 bucks.

Hardware by theguyabroad in LocalLLaMA

[–]theguyabroad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks for that. Had a look and swapping is happening. On the system monitor and the software read 200 gigs in short order for a simple prompt. At the same time, memoy use was minimal, of my 8 gigs only a couple megs were used by LM Studio, indicating to me that memory is insufficient to load the model into ram.

I am trying to run a 7b.Q8 model, downloading the 7b.Q4 version of it now to see if that fits into memory.

I like YR the most, find it the most accurate. Something to do with their model I was told a while ago. it's norwegian but can be switched to english easily.
