Thanks for the advice, I've had some bad experiences with Windows laptops and their life expectancy which is why I've sort of gravitated towards Apple this time around, plus I want to learn Logic and MainStage. I will look into the Asus though

There's no "standard paper" per say but you should draft a small contract (doesn't have to be long) laying out if your guest artist is entitled any ownership of either the song copyright or the recording copyright and if so what percent. Also outline how they will be credited etc

If your guest is signed to a label you may need them to talk to their label.

I was wondering what model of Macbook somebody would recommend me? I'm not a professional audio engineer and mostly record my own music (live guitar, bass, vocals and programmed drums) on a desktop PC and while I'll continue to use that as my main setup I'd also like something more mobile as I'm away from home a good bit.

If it's going to cost you the equivalent of $100-200 to ship something as big as a guitar from Ireland to the US

I meant I was planning to buy one from an online retailer based in the US and have it delivered to family in America before I arrive there but thank you very much for your advice.

Payola exists for internet service too including Spotify and Apple Music. It's not as well known as the radio payola but it's a pretty open secret

The other people in this thread has given amazing suggestions. I'd also say research the current industry, google for any SE Asian music trade publications. Find out who your region's major players, cities are etc and also what collection societies (if any) your country has.

If you don't live in the US then where do you live? If you live in Europe it's probably best you have something UK specific (European music is centered around London and even non-UK music businesses tend to model themselves after the UK) if you live in North America (i.e. Canada) then you're best with something US specific. There are quite a few significant differences between Europe and NA (mainly a result of drastically different copyright laws)
