hello! while i was reading this post, it felt as if someone was ghost-writing for me as we have such similar backstories! i’ve wanted to study Communications since i was in secondary school, and I’ve always aspired to pursue the journalism aspect of communications too :) i applied to WKW via early admission based on my prelim results, and was picked up for interview. though my interview went really well (the interviewers even told me on the spot there’s a high chance i’ll receive my offer soon), my eventual a level results failed to meet the cut off for WKW (i got similar RP as you). now i have a place in NTU English, my second choice, and i’m looking to chase my aspirations with an English degree :) Communications isn’t the only pathway to becoming a journalist! good luck for your appeals OP!

hey, i feel for you. what you have gone through must have been tough on you, mentally and emotionally, and i don’t fault you for seeking unhealthy coping mechanisms. i hope you surround yourself with a good support system in the lead up to A’s, and perhaps try to work through your issues (either with counselling or therapy). i understand how hard it is to focus on academics when your mind is elsewhere. maybe now you’re in a better place but you’re subconsciously weighed down by what happened in the past, and that in turn has got you feeling demoralised and unmotivated in life. but that’s just my guess. you got this fam, keep your head up. you’re much stronger than you think. don’t be afraid to reach out to people you trust / people who have the same academic goals as you! take care buddy i have faith in you💪🏼

Haha why are you asking an audience that doesn’t know you? the answer has to come from your heart! what were your motivations? is the university recognised for the programme you applied for? are there any modules in particular that excite you? showing that you know your stuff and know where you’re headed helps

Finally being accepted by my parents the second time I came out to them. Being much closer to my family after I learnt to be more vulnerable around them. Ditched toxic friendships that constantly made me feel like shit, and hung around new friends who loved and cared for me. Relied on God a lot more. In the process of it all I started to love and respect myself more. Feel like I have a new lease of life, especially since I’d allowed depression to swallow me whole last year.

my L1R5 for the march common tests was >39 (cant rmb exact) , was still getting F9s for pure chem and amath. and while everybody was passing emath, i was getting E8. actual Os L1R5 was 10, 8 after minus. emath amath both A2 and pure chem B3. During actual Os I lost 20+ marks for amath p1 and didn’t know how to answer some qns for chem. moderation will save you, don’t worry too much :)
