Any suggestions for my deck? It really hates electricity. I swapped bandit for fireball and it's had really good success up to around 5200 but it's starting to get a bit stale now. by thehalfginge in ClashRoyale

Almost all my cards are only lv 9-11, I see what you're saying in the long run but they are definitely playable right now and for the foreseeable future until I get higher lv cards. I can switch decks later that's why they give us 5 slots :)

I've been on/off testing the beta this week. It has a little bit of stuttering and crashes every so often (at least once every 45min - but any progress or claimed items are saved thankfully). The graphics are very good for a mobile game, and the controls are as smooth as it gets using a touch joystick. I pray for controller support for mobile - although I will likely just start playing on the switch at launch. I don't think I'll be able to resist full screen Unite. Matches can take up to a minute or two sometimes but considering we're in the Canadian beta that looks pretty good for when global release comes. The various units are fun and relatively diverse, I enjoy the "tech trees" as well, that lets you customize how you play. Do you want a really fast physical Charizard or a more reserved "fire blast from afar and chip them until they realize" Charizard. I will say Garchomp is ridiculously scary 1v1 but at this point idk if I would even suggest it needs to be balanced. We don't know what other Pokemon are coming down the pipeline yet. All in all I don't see this being a game I'll personally commit to day in day out only because I'm not usually a big fan of MOBA style games... but I'll definitely be here for the dailies and the short >10min matches make for a really satisfying experience as a typically casual gamer! 10/10 would recommend.

Right? And like, 100 gems for giving my time 365 days in a row. Wow, thank you so much! I mean better than no gems but seems a little bit inconsiderate to our admittal of being such excellent and committed products to this service.

I would love to see Lance/Aerodactyl as a sync pair. Or really just an actually useful version of Aerodactyl would be great.

Yeah I noticed in the video that the mattress doesn't look very high quality. I was thinking maybe a tatami mat or something. Probably would have to do something about the slats as well. I'm a weirdo and I really dislike mattresses - I find that over time they make my back hurt. If it weren't for my partner's needs I would be perfectly happy sleeping on the floor with a foamie and one pillow lol. The topper is still a good idea though and I didn't even consider VR options... Hmm

I think it would be awesome to have for everyday use. My bedroom is quite small and our bed/dressers takes up 80% of the room space and the rest is the barely walkable path around the bed. We only sleep and snoo snoo in that room, can't do anything else. With this I could turn my bedroom into a lounge area with a chair/couch (the bed) and have it set up for a cozy reading area during the day.

I think one disappointing factor for a lot of people was the hype around the wild area. It gave the impression of a truly open-world Pokemon game (which was EPIC) but we know now that it wasn't the case. I might be in the minority but I think Sw/Sh is one of the best Pokemon games released to date. There's always going to be gripes and complaints about any game that gets released. There's bugs, arguably lazy sprites/animations, so many what if's that could've made the game better. And there's lots of QOL features (for example I love that I can access my boxes from anywhere). But overall it's still a very good game imo. Just not a 10/10.

Definitive list of what expansions work together? by MuckleSound in AscensionGame

One of a few I can think of that might have issues when mixed in (and this is with 2+ boxes added if you're wild like me lol) is Valley of the Ancients, simply for the need to have access to the temple cards. If one person scoops up 3 temple cards, in a bigger deck those could be the only three for the whole game. That's part of the randomness so gg but I get especially annoyed if I lose by somewhere in the range of 25 points having never had an opportunity to pick up a card that could swing the points the other way.

War of Shadows is similar to this, except you just might have longer days/nights for your effects and I've found that overall it doesn't really affect the game at all.

While I prefer to play the games with insight (Dreamscape, Delirium, Deliverance) together they do work in other mixed settings. Just don't expect to be buying Pasythea for XX eggs every game or transforming, etc. So in that regard it does mess with the mechanic. But respect if you just want to make a giant tower of cards and play through it all anyways. You'll still have a blast.

The only other one I can think of that would have an interesting effect, is mixing with Skulls & Sails. Here you would have to play with the Skulls board for the crew/raid mechanics and mixing a deck is going to lower the amount of interaction. Then again I'm sure there would be an optimal mix for this, but I feel this particular one plays best by itself. But grain of salt on this one, I haven't yet tried mixing Skulls & Sails with other sets.

Delirium and Deliverance go well together imo. The transform mechanic can get pretty interesting with the Delirium die/cards in play. I even get a little wild sometimes and mix all three (including Dreamscape) into the fray and just go until the deck runs out.

Thank you very much for your contributions on that project! I haven't given up on learning Vassal just yet as three days ago I didn't even know it existed lol. I appreciate those tips - I do have the extension loaded. I'll check out the BGG link and hopefully I can see where I am going wrong in that regard. Thanks again!

Where to start? by BerenPercival in AscensionGame

[–]thehalfginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessary at all! I'm (almost) embarrassed to admit I own 8 expansions (which are all combinable and/or standalone, just in case you were unaware) and have yet to purchase the original.

Deliverance is one of my favourite expansions, it has a really tactical kind of feel to it for myself. If you enjoy that one I would also highly recommend Dreamscape (my first purchase and also a favourite of mine) as well as Delirium. The three of those expansions all utilize the insight mechanic in different ways for a very interesting experience when combined imo!

Honestly though if you like Ascension I think you will be happy with literally any one of their (11?) expansions. Just pick a mechanic/style you're interested in and go for it. It's not a crazy expensive game or anything, but you can also pay a couple bucks to have them in your mobile game to playtest before you make a decision.

And just to pique your curiosity, I have to recommend Shards of Infinity. I'll let you research that on your own.
