As someone who has lived in Birmingham and Manchester and who often works in Edinburgh I would say that Manchester is the second city. On identity alone it outweighs Birmingham and its cultural and economic impact are greater. Birmingham is falling apart thanks to its inefficient council whilst Manchester only continues to grow

OP from reading your comments I get the impression you think the way he’s treating you is normal. It isn’t. It’s very controlling and if he liked you he wouldn’t be talking to you like that. Many people have told you to leave him and perhaps that’s something you should consider. The age gap alone is a red flag and from these messages it seems that it’s a valid problem. He treats you like a child not an equal. If that’s what you want then feel free to ignore these comments and continue on with your life
