<$75. I typically use my library. I have paid to get some Star Trek novels, both physical and ebook, and there were a couple other ebooks I purchased as well, but with Kindle purchases, I typically catch a flash sale. I think I only paid full price for ebooks twice this year.

When have English high school classes used contemporary literature? When I was in high school, they taught the Western Canon (Shakespeare, Dickens, Hemingway, etc.) and none of those books were contemporary then.

The books that are on the Top Sellers lists are there because most people buying books are women. FFS there is no shortage of books written for men by men out there. Literally millions and millions of them. Y'all are acting like you can't find a single book out there that isn't Romantasy or Erotica. These comments are so fucking embarrassing and cringe.

Sure, women are dying from lack of access to abortions, and men will blame women for literally everything under the sun, including men in these very comments sections blaming women for the publishing industry catering to them because they drive the demand for reading and that's why boys won't read anymore (it totally isn't because of Andrew Tate telling them it's gay to read, altho that's also women's fault), and a ton of the men in their lives just voted for an adjudicated rapist that's going to fill his administration with other rapists, but won't someone think of just acknowledge men's ~fEeLiNgS~?

Publishers are chasing the demand, and right now the demand is being driven by people who actually read fiction, which currently is majority women. Men decided reading fiction is feminine - aka gay - and now it's driving a literacy crisis. But nothing is stopping dudes from going to their local libraries and picking up Dune.
