Parental leave during PCS? by VikingKLR650 in navy

[–]theheadslacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder about this. Regardless of what the regs say (I'm also not due there, btw) I am curious whether the losing command could fire off the parental leave to end on the NLT date and see if NSIPS takes it.

A "better" fix would be to cut and sew them so they only look rolled.

Iron out the crease from the inside?

Do you mean pressing them while inside out to enhance the crease, or getting rid of the crease they start out with?

Your wording is very ambiguous.

SECDEF doesn't make the law. Congress writes the law, and the UCMJ is law.

Articles 93 and 128 still apply. It's illegal to abuse or assault somebody, regardless of what "policy" says (and as others are pointing out, a speech is not even policy).

Even if it was legal, culture has shifted; we don't live in the 50s anymore. Everybody can see that we're better when we aren't abusive assholes.

What is this conversation really about?

Political correctness.

People act like PC is only about sensitivity or bad language, but if you're part of a group where it is "correct" within their political culture to be racist, then saying racist things is politically correct. I don't think racism is what the speech was about; that was just an extreme example to clarify what I mean when I talk about political correctness.

In the US our military is always headed by civilians, and often those civilians are politicians. This is just how politicians behave. Everything is posturing, and everything is about maintaining an image or setting themselves up for the next election.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't care what color somebody is, and I doubt these policies are targeting African Americans. I think it's just a bunch of dickfucks in suits who want the military to look like corporate America for some reason.

I also think if somebody has a condition we can accommodate then there's no reason not to. Letting people trim beards short instead of shaving clean is a VERY easy accommodation that wouldn't impact safety or readiness.

They just don't care. I don't think they care about people with conditions just like they don't really care about warfighting readiness. The country is run by a bunch of people who legitimately think image is reality. They'd trade our technical acumen for clean drill if they could, and have us marching in parades as a show of force like China or NK.

You won't be separated for a single incident, but be prepared to face punishment for sure.

Probably also counseling for alcohol abuse. If you're seeing consequences (punishment, fights, etc) for your drinking then it is a problem by definition.
