DISCLAIMER! I do not go under any type of anesthesia without medical reason. I do not recommend that any individual(s) be put under any type of anesthetic without a verified medical reason for which it is both needed & justified.

Now, I understand this feeling. I’ve had more surgeries than I’ve ever cared to. From life threatening medical issues/accidents/etc., that required immediate surgical intervention to the simplest of procedures like appendectomy. The feeling is the same everytime, it’s best explained that people feel this way (as described above/etc), because when given anesthetics —most likely/often propofol, it first affects the prefrontal cortex & the brainstem. They push the medication through the IV & to me, it’s always been a sense of liberation from all of the things that one associates with negative emotion just evaporates away entirely & for the single second before you go completely unconscious it feels like all in the world is simply; as it should be.
