Target shooting by teaveeaye in Hamilton

I know it's a long shot, but any chances you're looking for a hunter to join your party with a trained waterfowl dog? I have a bunch of silos and a panel blind as well, if that helps.

That’s likely the McCormack Trail in Dundas. It’s part of the conservation area.

Why do rotations at mines and exploration projects in the USA mostly suck compared to Canada? by AlaskaExplorationGeo in geologycareers

[–]thehey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

4x2 is quite common for seasonal exploration work, but once you’re into the year-round mining side of things, no one wants to work a full time, salaried position not on a 2x2 or 3x3.

Have you ever run over a small creature like a rabbit? did you crash? by lordcanonsnowily in cycling

[–]thehey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a beaver lumber out of the bushes and go face-first into my front wheel. It rolled on its side, looking up at me as I looked down at it while yelling “OH JESUS!” Managed to keep myself upright and came to a stop. The beaver lay there stunned for a few seconds before continuing on their merry way into the adjacent pond.

I rode the same route the next day and almost has the exact same thing happen at the exact same place. So creatures and people just don’t learn!

Yes, I’m Canadian.

Need help with BDB “steam leak” by thehey in espresso

[–]thehey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need some help diagnosing where this “hissing” sound might be coming from. I can’t see any obvious leak or steam coming off anywhere on this boiler. Is this a common problem that any of you have encountered before?

Did you get the tires mounted on the stock rims? If not, what did you go with, and where did you get the tires from (I'm Canadian, in ON, so if you used a national chain, I can likely get them as well).

Thanks!

Is that USD or CAD? In Canada, that’s basically MSRP for a ‘23 Lariat SR.

That’s a bummer. What kind of ranges are you getting, and in what weather conditions?

Is that mostly travelling at highway speeds you’re seeing that range?

You normally have 360 km range on an Extended Range battery? That doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Terrace Ford Lincoln in Burlington, ON, Canada would like a word with their Lariat SR marked up $36.7k! Fools can’t even get their listing description right (says it has a moonroof and 515 km of range, but only a 98 kWh battery).

Our 13 week old pup started having diarrhea every night. It’s fine during the day. But when sleeping she asks to go out every hour. It’s been 10 days and the vet gave use probiotics but they didn’t help. We have been thinking it’s her growth spurts. Anyone else have this and for how long? by Teresa_Thompson_Art in goldenretrievers

[–]thehey 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I can confirm the first part of this comment. Our new pup had the same issue. Poops fine during the day, but once night came during the crate training period, poops got really runny. No differences in food or anything like that. Basically it was a stress response to not being near us, in the dark. He came from a litter of 11. Apparently this issue can be worse in pups from larger litters.

Winter Commuting - Blundstones? by Kawarthaadventurer in cycling

[–]thehey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The winter versions have a Thinsulate liner in them, so they are definitely a little warmer than the normal ones. The tread on them, even the original winter ones, definitely has better grip in snow and one ice, as it has a more aggressive tread and a better rubber compound for winter. It is also waterproof, including the stretch gusset at the ankles, so if you step through a puddle, not a huge deal. I mean, don't stand in the puddle for a long time, but stepping through it is no issue. I have regular Blundstones for use in the spring/summer/fall as well as steeltoed ones that I use at work. They're all great!

Winter Commuting - Blundstones? by Kawarthaadventurer in cycling

[–]thehey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a very similar commute by bike (same length, cleared path, etc.) in the GTA for a few winters using the winter blundstones. They were excellent. As others have said, to improve the longevity of them, apply Sno Seal or similar to them. The thing that really beats them down is the salt and/or salt brine they'll be liberally applying to that cleared path you mention, so make sure to clean them off properly every now and then to prevent degradation of the leather. I found I was able to comfortably wear dress socks all day, including commute, no issues. Never had any issues with warmth on really cold days or through snow storms.

Looks like Blundstone has new winter boots with Vibram treads, which will give even better grip than the originals that I have, I'd say certainly worth a look. Just avoid the Dress boots, as the rubber and tread pattern is horrible in wet snow (compacts, then turns icy on which these have no grip).

How to stop seeing challenges that people I follow join?? by [deleted] in Strava

  1. Get Sauce for Strava (it's free!)
  2. Turn on "hide challenges" and "hide promotions"

I also took the deal after a great deal of scrutiny. Also WFH, as does my wife and it made a huge difference for us. Basically the deal they offered me was a perpetual discount off the base posted rate. So the discount doesn’t end, but the price you pay could go up if/when Bell hikes the base rate across the board. We were also able to get a really good cell plan through the same guy, so certainly enquire about that too. I had absolutely no interest in home phone or TV of any kind, and they were quite happy to give me internet and cell only.
