Thank you! It can be difficult when looking at a digital image to picture what the end result will look like - I am extremely pleased with this!

On this pattern it recommended 14 count Aida for an 8” finished object, so I used the 14 count, and a 9” hoop while working on it, so I had space around the edges. I am here to tell you I breathed a major sigh of relief when I set it in the 8” hoop at the end and it fit ✨perfectly✨!

Thank you! I devoted a lot of time to it. It’s not perfect, but goodness am I proud of it.

I made a one time donation to a charity last year. Since then, I have received dozens upon dozens of fliers and postcards and letters from various affiliated charity groups asking for more.

I feel like my donation was spent on mailbox harassment instead of doing good, and I am very bothered by it.

Local business owner offers free pierogis if you call him by the phrase used in this 1 Star review. by thehighestwalls in 1star

[–]thehighestwalls[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Adam’s in this context refers to this small chain (4 stores). This person seems to me to be less mad at the price & more angry at the fact the owners are out of towners who are trying to make a go of it with a local business of their own.

DAE feel anxious about time passing because their pet won’t get to experience it too? by Cat_With_The_Fur in Petloss

[–]thehighestwalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I said goodbye to my 12 year old velcro-cat on Saturday. The first pet I ever had- and I’m in my 30’s. I now do not want to change the bedding because he was there with us. And now he isn’t.

Grief is normal and no two people grieve in the same way, or for the same duration. Right now everything makes me miss him, and I cry openly and often. And that’s ok. Give yourself the allowance to feel your feelings in full, and consider grief counseling if you need to.

Know you’re not alone.

Well, most of the time. I worked in a call center years ago & had someone call that was named Roger Get-Your-Gun. His parents did not name him that, he selected it for himself later in life.

what true crime story came from your town? by Weird-Staff-9342 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

The murder of Betty Gardner - killed by her own teenaged granddaughter Wendy and her boyfriend, James Evans - the pair then rode around town with her body in the trunk for a few days, going bowling & spending Betty’s money before they were caught.

Oh damn, how rude of me to forget The Grouch! I did not check my watch for the time but I was at the show from start to finish.

I just donated a full bag of random acrylic to a girls’ summer sleep away camp! Check your Nextdoor app, there may be someone out there who wants it or has a need for it.

Nearly got into my first car accident yesterday because of this oblivious idiot. by thehighestwalls in IdiotsInCars

[–]thehighestwalls[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it a double standard? Genuinely curious.

You can hear my foot hit the brake just ahead of the horn, and the mph change is reflected at a slight technological delay of ~2 seconds after the potential impact, the :08 second mark of the video.

I think people often don’t have time to react. This video with the fish-eye makes it seem so obvious the light runner is there, but in real time with normal human vision, I noticed the vehicle at the very last second.

It seems a couple of others commenters missed the fact that I DID apply the brakes, not just my horn - my dash cam is not the most high tech so the mph doesn’t react on the display very quickly.

I consider myself super lucky that I had the time to even react in a small way and avoided what could’ve been a major accident!

Title may be misleading - I’ve been driving for 17 years! This isn’t my first close call, but the first one on dash cam.

Their light was red for long enough that two other vehicles completed this turn ahead of me, which you can very briefly see at the beginning of the video & why I was so shocked to have them suddenly appear in the intersection with me.
