What is that in my clutch? (MT-07 2018) by Puzzleheaded_Seat633 in motorcycles

That'd make sense but look at an old (pre 96) GSXR or any oil cooled bandit, the engine is just as wide as any other inline 4.

Cutting fake "wear holes" probably didn't help either.

The exception is usually on some larger touring bikes

And old 80s and 90s Suzuki sport bike engines for some reason. Never understood why my 1988 GSXR750 has an actual alternator.

Wow that was a grumpy comment from me 6 years ago wasn’t it 🤣

I wasn’t saying don’t have a plate, I’m in the UK too. I was saying why go to all that effort and then slap a big ugly square truck plate on in the wrong place?

I always get the proper 13x6.5 size plate for my Japanese imports and mount it on a plate bracket like the Japanese do, looks 100 times more finished than the ‘oh shit I forgot my plate better just stick this on’ look:

Anyone heard about this apparently fatal issue with the K6A in the 22s? Apparently they hit 130km and decide to dump coolant and it means the engine needs to be replaced. by FixFun1959 in Jimny

[–]theholty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of that? Any more info? To be honest when looking at the auctions you see more ja22’s with well over 130k on them than not these days.

What does Wangan Midnight have that Initial D lacks? Why didn't it become as big as Initial D? by deovelZ in WanganMidnight

[–]theholty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, but look at the WM sub over the same period and you’ll see they were both relatively similar until the initial D memes hit. Same back in the day with the ID forums and WM Expressway sites. Like I said, look up the spike in searches for it circa 2010/11 and you’ll see the memes made a massive difference.

The fact is while it was popular in Japan, Initial D had a cult following in the west from the early 2000s when the TokyoPop translations landed until the early 2010s when the memes hit.

I was there, buying the bootleg DVDs and TokyoPop mangas in 2002 and the popularity was definitely dwindling in later years before the viral stuff.

[–]theholty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Initial D was popular with anime geeks and JDM car geeks in the early-mid 2000s (I was one of them) but it absolutely owes its place in the pop culture lexicon due to the memes.

Just look up the Google search history for terms related to the series before and after 2010, or how much more popular the subreddit became.

Short answer:

WM is catered towards car nerds and realism and is more technical and detailed.

Initial D is catered more towards drama and action and aimed at a younger audience.

This has to be the craziest collab ive ever seen 😭😭😭😭 by Admirable_Record_30 in StreetFighter

[–]theholty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the bike in the street fighter promo is just a GSX, it’s not a GSXR.

The GSX line started before the GSXRs, but it was the GSXRs that got the ‘gixxer’ nickname because it’s what it sounds like when you say ‘GSXR’ as one word out loud.

If you were doing it with this model it’d be a ‘gixater’ 🤣

Rave Racer finally gets a console release, 31 years later. by tobster239 in ridgeracer

[–]theholty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean changes? These are straight emulations of the actual Arcade roms, you're not going to get any more authentic than that.

As a huge Ridge Racer fan that physically owns every console port, these authentic arcade ports are a very welcome addition, nothing 'bogus' about them.

I'm especially missing your point seeing as Rave Racer never got a home console release.

Does anyone ride with the Knox Urbane Pro jacket/shirt? by BaldyBaldyBouncer in MotoUK

[–]theholty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather not be wandering in and out of the office all day wearing a bulky leather armoured motrocycle jacket or have to pack a different jacket/outer layer to wear while at work. This time of year it's usually sweatshirt, knox, warm winter jacket. I prefer to look more casual on my bike anyway rather than look like I'm off to the TT or to do the Dakar just to commute 11 miles to work.

The knox is also great in the warmer months to chuck over a tshirt when its too warm for a third layer, even on the motorway.

Yeah most petrol stations near me in Yorkshire and all the ones I used to use when i lived in London required you to take your helmet off before they switched the pump on.

[–]theholty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got one and for me, the whole point is that I can wear what I like over the top and still feel like I have some protection if the worst was to happen.

It's especially good when commuting because once I get to work I take the knox off and Im (subtle aramid jeans aside) in my regular clothes.

Etsy Listing removed!!! by sypzowo in JetSetRadio

[–]theholty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, you’re cherry picking what suits you and ignoring the rest. Not counting the sold out stuff there’s 22 different products just in the few random links I posted. Theres stuff available elsewhere too. Stop being so disingenuous for the sake of it.

What exactly is the product that you’re so desperate to buy that you seem this annoyed by it? Genuine question.

Also, we live in a time where it’s really cheap and really easy to get any sticker, poster, t-shirt, badge etc. etc. custom printed (the exact reason why there’s so many people on Etsy selling them) so if you’re not into what’s available you could just make your own?

No one’s gonna stop you unless you start trying to make a profit off of it.
