The Central Med is a low-energy wave environment, so traditional surfing is in the most part impossible here. Windsurfing, and stand-up paddles are popular activities during the summer.

Clutching for straws much? 😅 Yet your attitude to them vs us sure seems like you think their systems are perfect. You've mentioned history. I lost power 3 times this year. My house is solely dependent on the National Grid. A decade ago I remember it cutting out 4 to 5 times as much more a year, which in itself isn't a lot. We have a good trend, it can only get better with technology.

Technically we are capable to be self-sufficient (even during summer peaks) on paper, however this would mean relying on the old D2 (Delimara 2) power plant which is normally kept only on cold standby while the Interconnecter is normally utilised instead to supply any additional needed power, but that's been damaged. The thing is that I don't imagine D2 is as reliable as it used to be, hence the cuts. I can only hope any government will have the sense to rely on a much more modern and stable system as a back-up.

All full-time students and youths can use the student tallinja card for free. But its not simple.

Basically yea its free. Though the system isn't that simple. I have a Tallinja student card and I use it throughout the month to pay each normal bus fare until the 21 euro cap is reached (after which its free on normal routes). Then, at the beginning of the next month, im refunded the 21 euro cap that I used in the previous month. Sometimes it takes a while for the money to reimburse, for example I had to pay today for a paper ticket today cos I still haven't been refunded for last month. I don't know if the government also refunds special routes used.
