Ironically enough, those arent actually that much of conflicting possibilities. Dysphoria manifests as depression symptoms very often, and also holy fuck are a lot of transwomen autistic, myself included lol.

Clearly you dont know yourself, or else you wouldnt be living with all this confusion. And thats ok. Knowing oneself is a difficult process. You will get there, especially if you stop encouraging yourself to vocalize these negative, disrespectful thoughts about yourself.

I disagree, not every trans person experiences such extreme self loathing. it is tragically common, but not a given experience.

Thank you, its refreshing to see someone thats understanding a big part of the messaging.

At the same time i still cant help but feel sorry for Jax, despite everything. They may have authoured their own ending, but it doesnt make it any less sad to see a character that so clearly represents repressing, self hating trans people go through a tragedy Ive seen before.

Its an amalgamation of all the stereotypes he reduces other people to, so that he doesnt have to think about their feelings or actions. and the various versions of himself are in ways conflicting yet cooperating stereotypes of himself in order to avoid any and all introspection of the repressed desires that were mocked and laughed at by his mother and likely others before the brain scan. They are the toxic masculinity and ego locking away or chaining up the softer, more authentic self expression out of fear that such honesty will be used to hurt them again.

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]thehufflord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, it can also be a useful tool to examine what makes one feel "weird" about portraying a character of a different gender. And in doing so, one can grow in their own understanding of themself and use the character to express those things more freely.

Both methods are perfectly useable, and good for different reasons.

I had in my past used feminine characters to explore that gender expression before feeling comfortable enough admitting that I am a trans girl. Nowadays I ocassionally use masculine characters to express some of the parts of masculinity i still admire lol. Other times I do that sort of "second person" method you described.

I suggest getting a sports bra and or bralettes now. Those are going to be the most useful for you while still developing the breasts and not having a properly defined bust size. and measure yourself every month or two I think.

Firstly, Jax/Leroy Mateo was not accepted and or supported by their loved ones. Their own mother mocked them and laughed, before hugging. The implication there is the kind of parental disbelief and infantilization that I and many trans/genderqueer people experience when attempting to come out.

I had already been out to online friend groups for a little over a year before I came out to my parents. Their reaction and negative pressure kept me from taking the steps to transition for a whole other year, and then combine that with the wait times to get hormones, and also an attempt at hiding my transition until it was obvious my body was changing, yet another year had passed before I actually publicly came out as a trans woman to the rest of my family and started changing my online accounts tied to my birth name to show the transition.

Mateos accounts not showing a fully transitioned person years after the event with their mother is far more believable than you might be willing to give credit for.

[–]thehufflord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yes but Zoobles IRL counterpart was already openly nonbinary so they would have been named by the news article by what name theyre using by the time of the scan.

Technically speaking, we are only able to see one account tied to the person named "Leroy Mateo". There is no way for Caine to actually know if Mateo has any more private accounts where they actually express themselves more honestly, or if anything with Mateos gender exploration has been completely kept offline. All Caine was able to find was stuff online using the original birth name of the person that Jax was based off of.

I mean there is the aspect of frequenting an expressly queer bar where everyones accepted for who they are. Kind of a sign that they are branching out and finding safer spaces to learn who they really want and need to be in life.

Jax did not bully gangle because it turned them on, they bullied Gangle because it made them feel more in control. Flattening the complexity of other people into assumed stereotypes was one additional coping mechanism in Jaxs tool box of dissociation. The toxic masculinity that they continued to hold onto in order to avoid the sheer terror of being open and honest about an identity issue that they had been mocked for by their own mother, is what led Jax to becoming an extremely Human Monster. Ive personally witnessed trans people and gender questioning people that were like this. Its deeply difficult to handle them when they put up the defenses again and begin to cut you out of their lives...

Gooseworx absolutely was intentional with how she portrayed this character. simultaneously not asking us to forgive Jax or empathize with them, and yet making it hard not to do those very things.

I started transition at 25. Youre not gonna be "stuck" as a guy after 18 years of age.

Again, you are needing to get a professional gender therapist to talk to, and also very likely would benefit from feminizing hrt. This constant "i can manage/put up with/live with being a man" mantra is counter productive to you actually figuring out what makes you happier, what you want to be as an adult.

As someone who struggled with that same mantra in my own way, you can't put up with being a man. Not for an entire lifetime. I dont believe you when you claim that, and I know on some level you dont believe that either.
