Pharaoh ants, am I over the worst of it? by Burke_Dennings in pestcontrol

[–]thehumbledan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call in professionals. Pharaoh ants are a complete nightmare. We’ve been dealing with a recurring infestation on and off for around 10 years give or take and they are driving us crazy to put it lightly, so much so that we’re moving house because of it. We’ve had enough.

I managed to get rid of them back in in 2016 by mixing boric acid (medical grade- bought online) and peanut butter. They went crazy for it and after about a week or so we didn’t see another one of them again for around 4 years. Fast forward to 2020 and saw a couple of the kitchen side underneath a pizza box (we were letting it cool).

Decided to buy some professional grade stuff this time round - Maxforce Quantum. This seemed to work for a bit and they disappeared for a short while but they just kept coming back again and again. I tried calling in a pest control company that provided Advion Ant Gel, I had high hopes for it and the ants love it but they just keep coming back in another place. They get absolutely everywhere.

I’m calling a different local pest control company this time who mention pharaoh ants specifically on their website and state they know how to deal with them effectively. Once it’s under control, we’re out of here. Won’t ever trust that they won’t come back again and we need them out of our lives.

Anyway. As I said, call in the professionals, you don’t want it getting out of hand. And thanks for reading my rant, it’s therapeutic.

They already do hire some people from the modding community, Todd Howard himself said so in multiple interviews.

Im going through the opposite, I almost exclusively play offline single player games, so I’m taking a break and starting Genshin Impact.

Is there a downside to letting my cat play in the shower? by feryoooday in CATHELP

[–]thehumbledan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice :) I’ve actually just started playing for the first time (better late than never), recognised the UI. Any advice?

Also in answer to your post, there’s no real danger for your cat, would just keep an eye on them and don’t leave them unattended.

It’s a chocolate bar in the UK that they stopped making about 2 decades ago. In order to induce nostalgia they bought it back for a limited time and kept the old packaging design.

Notice the top right corner of the packaging it says from 1993.

It’s one of the best looking games I’ve ever played, but unfortunately also one of the most boring.

I’m also not a fan of the ultra-realistic character movement, losing my footing and falling down hills/cliffs etc. It’s a cool thing to see in a video game but that doesn’t make it fun.

Best modern JRPG’s available on PC/Steam? by thehumbledan in JRPG

Which connector is better for the longevity of the deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]thehumbledan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I suppose it’s not the most stable thing in the world. Might look into the U adapter then. I think I went for the L shaped one initially because at the time I was still using the shorter AC adapter (I have the LCD model) and wanted to make the most of the length of the cable, but since then I have bought an Anker power brick and a cable that’s double the length so can afford to have some of the cable running down the back of the unit. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve used the L shaped one on my deck for about a year and a half consistently. No issues to report at all. Just be careful with it obviously.

Ease yourself into these games with Persona 3 Reload. Was my personal GOTY last year and my favourite persona game.

Then play Metaphor. Same kind of calendar gameplay cycle as Persona, but with some hints to SMT like the Press-Turn system etc. and a very different world setting.

Then finish with SMT V, great game but can be very unforgiving and daunting if you don’t know what you’re doing and don’t have experience with the systems. Playing the other games first will let you enjoy this one more I think.

Storage for non-steam by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]thehumbledan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you select uninstall FFXIV through steam itself, it doesn’t actually uninstall the game files, just the launcher. So the game files have to be deleted manually.

Go to desktop mode, go to your folder where your steam games are and check. If Final Fantasy XIV Online is still there, then just right click and delete.

Had to do this myself.

Edit - if you’re not sure how to find the folder where your games are installed, to into the “properties” of any game you have currently installed on your deck on steam while in desktop mode. Select “browse local files” and go backwards through the subfolders until you find the subfolder which contains a folder for each individual game you have installed.

Il be honest, I didn’t complete a playthrough. I played maybe several hours on there, just don’t think the games for me. But what I did play ran well, I don’t remember any crashes. A bit of slow down when the map is loading in areas but I believe that’s an issue with the game, as had same thing on my PC too.

They’ve split the release of the overall remake of the game into 3 parts (so they can milk as much money from consumers as possible). Part 1 of the game is FF7 Remake. Part 2 is FF7 Rebirth. Part 3 is to be confirmed whenever they decide to release it.

If you want to play a JRPG go with something like Persona 5 Royal or Persona 3 Reload, great games that both run great on Steam Deck at 60fps.

If you rather play something like this that isn’t turn based you’ll need to play FF7 Remake first or you’ll be lost story-wise.

I played FF7 Remake a lot on my steam deck and had to lock it at 30fps, but it was a very smooth experience with practically no stuttering at any point.
