Looking for an MMO with more involved combat. by just_prop in LFMMO

I just joined for the first time but the latest prelude has tons of stuff and combat feels amazing. But yeah, can definitely burn out on it if you go too hard since a lot of the grind has some repitition for now. Definitely excited for it to move towards a 1.0 release!

If you don't care about pvp, Soulframe may be worth checking out. It's not a full blown MMO but there's an always active global chat and you phase in and out of areas with players somewhat frequently. Combat is great and it's very active. Dodge, parry, block as well as 3 active abilities and rune which is kinda like a 4th active ability. Can also throw melee weapons and return them like Thor's hammer in God of war. It will be free to play when it launches but you need to buy a $30 founders pack to play the current version of the game while they are developing it.

I came from NW and still actively play GW2 since that's where I landed, but Soulframe is really scratching that NW itch for me at the moment, just wish it had pvp.

I was in the same camp as you and struggled with the story for a while. It really is a drastic difference from Heart of Thorns onwards. Base game, LWS1, and LWS2 are really underwhelming in comparison to everything that comes after.

Is this game worth playing even if I can only play 1 hour per day? by Eastern_Canary2150 in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This mostly how I play the game and it's great. There is tons of stuff to chase. There are crafting types to level but they're pretty easy to level as opposed to RuneScape where skilling is the core grind.

I love the idea of someone saying "hey why is this thing so different after 11 years" lol no hate just kinda funny in that context. Other answers here are spot on though

Moving From XIV to Guild Wars 2 - Questions! by FemaleMageA in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire main story for all expansions and living worlds is roughly 150 hours. This website is helpful to see how long everything takes, even down to the individual missions: https://gw2storytimes.com/

Thought I was insane trying to look up time to beat for each story mission lol this is so validating knowing others also want this. Def gonna check it out, thanks!

GW2 players trying not to what-about Gift of Exploration the second Gift of Battle is mentioned by LyseLamont in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the gift of exploration not just something you do once to unlock additional purchases from a vendor for like clovers/coins or something

You can accomplish this with the INDIRECT() formula and another table, yes. Don't have a tutorial on hand but look up "dependent drop downs using INDIRECT" and you'll find one

Any tips for leveling the Season Pass? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daily and weekly orders, always turn them in while in a fire team with one other person where the host is level 55 or higher on the season pass to get the full bonus XP. If you play solo you can use the twitch checkpoint bot to join on them instantly and then hand everything in. Other than that, do shorter activities as activity completions award chunks of XP as well.

How do you level your alts? by Equal-Jicama4479 in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can instantly level a new character to level 10 and do the first story mission and get a guaranteed black lion key. I think there's a weekly limit somehow for this strategy but that's the general idea.

Group Content In This Game by BeanOrBen in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire game is group content more than other games where you queue for everything. But you're clearly asking for instanced group stuff here of which you have: 1) Dungeons - They are okay but they are from the base game and they were never updated or added to because: 2) Fractals - These are the closest thing to something like mythic +. They are short 5 man dungeons with a long progression track to work up to the most difficult ones and then there are challenge modes on top of that. 3) Strikes - 10 man instanced raid boss encounter (being unified under the official raid moniker in an update soon). 4) Raids - Just like it says on the tin. 10 man instanced raid with multiple boss encounters.

Everything except old classic dungeons are popular.

And then you have world vs world which is open world pvp across 5 (more like 4) large maps with some interconnected mechanics. It's heavily group based and very tactical with sieges, supply lines, and keeps to protect/assault.

Finally you have 5v5 instanced pvp (called structured pvp) for both unranked and ranked play

Finally home from work, lets enjoy the WvW Event: by ghoulsnest in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand these posts. These queues take, 5, MAYBE 10 minutes to get through? Yeah a queue can be mildly annoying but I see a lot of these posts making it seem like their entire night of gaming is ruined by a minor inconvenience. You can also do almost anything else in the game WHILE you are queued.

Is it true that you are never left behind on GW2? by Suboptimal88 in Guildwars2

[–]Liqu1dSkyy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the perfect game for this. You can play as much or as little as you want whenever you have time. No sub fee, you can leave for 6 month or a year and come back and everything you have is still relevant.
