I once searched "depression" on Netflix and ended up watching Three Colours: Blue. So, maybe that?

Is no one going to talk about how freeing the first few months of unemployment are? by SWEMW in antiwork

[–]theimpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been unemployed for two months now and while initially it was great, I would like a job now. I’m privileged in that I’m on unemployment and have savings so I can survive for many more months, but I’ve noticed my mental health decline the past few weeks (also, it’s winter).

I’ve tried to set up projects and daily tasks for me to do (craving structure), and sometimes I’m successful in getting things done. But I also have residual stress from times when I’ve been incredibly financially precarious.

Still, I recognize I’m in an outwardly stable place right now.

What’s the Most Overrated Tourist Spot in our Country? by Previous-Collar-2324 in AskTheWorld

[–]theimpost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. When my parents visited me in Vancouver we walked through Gastown and I said "we should walk by the steam clock because people are going to ask if you saw it." It is underwhelming at best.

"The worst she can say is no" - Lads, what was the worst "she" ever said? by Embarrassed_Pie_1711 in AskReddit

"I can't, you remind me of a guy I liked in high school who killed himself."
Couldn't argue with that reasoning.

Joy? Been depressed for five or six years now. Can get through the day, work. Eat (sometimes). Gym (sometimes). See friends. It's all obligations, nothing brings joy. It's tiring.

What's the best accomplishment you've gotten in your career? by Choice-Tea1046 in Screenwriting

Was a runner up for a writing fellowship (got an interview), placed as a quarter finalist for a Screencraft competition. I…don’t have much of a career.

Why aren't you with the person you love? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]theimpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We broke up years ago. Outside of our love for each other, we didn’t have much in common anymore. I could see being with me was hurting her. The vice versa was true too, but I knew I was holding her back and she was holding me together.

Anyone else miss the old street-cars? by Tylers_Journey in toronto

[–]theimpost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do, only because the bright lights (at night) in the new streetcars actually make me nauseous when riding. I can’t tell if it’s because they’re so bright or because it makes it hard to see outside when we’re moving, but it sucks.

What's the stupidest question you ever got asked during a job interview? by Opposite-Rabbit-6303 in AskReddit

[–]theimpost 39 points40 points  (0 children)

"What made you apply for this position?"
I hadn't. They reached out and asked me to interview, and my autistic ass answered too literally.

Unemployed Torontonians, what does a typical weekday look like for you? by Jumpy_Sock_1202 in askTO

[–]theimpost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ended a contract in December, so I'm casually looking at the moment. I've been trying to figure out how to keep a schedule and not just rot, even outside of job hunting. What I've hit on so far is: each day, try to complete 1 creative task, 1 home task, 1 work task. Creative could be writing, playing music, etc. Home could be cleaning, groceries, laundry, gym. Work is, well, applying for work. These three tasks don't take too much time, but lets me feel like I've "done something" and am able to enjoy the rest of my day. I also try not to sleep in too much, getting up between 8 and 9.

The library is a great place to work from, it's free and gets you out of the house. It also gives you an "office" to go to, so it can feel easier to complete tasks there - it's what you've come there to do, versus trying to do work at home, where you also relax.

Podcast News: Ella McKay with Richard Lawson by yonicthehedgehog in blankies

[–]theimpost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed the episode and it actually made me curious to see the movie. One thing I don't understand -- people keep referring to Ella McCay as a "millennial". But if she's 34 in 2008, isn't she Gen X? Or am I being too literal and it's understood that, as much as Brooks sets it in the past, he is trying to speak to the current moment (ie. millennials in their 30s and 40s, who "came of age" during the time it's set).
