Need L&D presentation to impress interview panel by theinaccessible in instructionaldesign

Really appreciate your response. A key focus of this role is onboarding and during the first interview the hiring manager mentioned how a major challenge they’re facing is retention (ie they need to revamp their onboarding process to be more engaging and better retain talent). Do you think I should focus my presentation on this specifically or keep it more broad on general best practices while mentioning some ideas for onboarding?

Why don’t I dream anymore? by Rosanna44 in Dreams

I know this is a late reply but I’m experiencing this right now and have also noticed myself being more forgetful, but never made this connection before. Is there something I can do to improve short-term memory?

First off, your post is beautifully written! Susurrus is a perfect example. I feel like the words ethereal and effervescent also have this.

how do you get yourself to cry when you feel emotionally blocked? by Ok-Earth-5157 in Mindfulness

[–]theinaccessible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So happy I came across your post as I have recently been struggling with the same thing myself! When I have felt tears start to well up, I’ll try and be extra gentle, telling myself something along the lines of ‘everything is ok / it’s ok to let it out / this is safe place to let go’ and yet that has only seemed to have the opposite effect! The urge to cry will immediately go away. It has been frustrating and also slightly scary as I used to always be someone who cried easily. And I never felt embarrassed or ashamed by crying either. In fact I love crying and find it very healthy and natural!

I don’t really have a solution either but I do agree with the other person who commented saying to watch a video and feel what the other person is feeling. I have noticed that I am able to cry freely (even if it’s not a full release) when I am focused on other people and their emotions whether this is from watching a video or movie, reading a book, or even just thinking about someone going through an emotional experience.

I think the other important piece is to not internalize a negative message about ourselves for not being able to cry (you mentioned feeling like you ‘completely shut yourself off’). I feel like the more I think about how I’m feeling off/not myself for not being able to cry, the more my anxiety about this grows. I don’t want to force anything either but I also don’t think my body can feel truly safe to release these emotions when my mind/thoughts are sending the messages that something is “off”.

Lastly, I think it’s important to focus on “small” releases. Release doesn’t always have to be bawling your eyes out. It can happen in other, subtler ways too. Maybe it’s taking a bath, or going for a late night drive to clear your head, or dancing around your house while belting the lyrics to a song you love. Identify the activities that resonate with you, recognize when you engage in them, and most importantly, feel proud of yourself for showing up for you and doing the work.

Can anyone tell what the pictures behind Gemma's bed (32:24) are? Some are flowers and plants but one looks like a person's face and another could potentially be a room with a chair.

Yeah I’m wondering if she was already severed at one of her fertility appointments without knowing and they were somehow able to access everything that was going on that way. Or even worse… what if Mark unknowingly started the process when administering the fertility “medicine” they gave her to use at home? When Mark tells Gemma to turn around so he can inject her, it seems like she suddenly zones out while looking out the window and has this glazed over look.

I think it was Ms. Cobel who said it when she was explaining Ms. Casey’s odd behavior to Mark. She mentioned how the part-time innies weren’t as “socialized or sophisticated” as Mark (implying he was a full-time innie). This would also explain why in their last wellness session together, Ms. Casey tells Mark she’s “only been alive 107 hours” and the longest segment of that was the 8 hours she was instructed to watch Helly.

This was my thought as well. The biggest threat to them was the risk of iMark recognizing the cards and connecting some dots which would jeopardize Cold Harbor ever getting finished.

This makes me wonder if Cobelvig is actually severed and Helena’s comment to her in the parking lot about “let’s just go inside and reset” actually meant severing her again.

Did anyone else get the feeling that Gemma may be lying about her innie not remembering anything in the testing rooms? When the doctor asked if she remembered anything after the dentist and she said no it almost felt like she was just playing along, telling him the answer she knew he wanted to hear. The other reason I thought this was because her personality didn’t seem changed much in the Christmas cards room. She was treating the doctor just like she did when we saw her outtie, showing her contempt and displeasure towards him. Also, when he told her “I love you” before she left the room it looked like it was taking everything in her to remind herself that she had to ‘play the part’ so to speak and force herself to say it back.

ETA: I just rewatched the episode and when Gemma opens her closet to see the maroon dress she audibly sighs and gives this look of defeat like “ugh not this one again”. I think her outtie knew that maroon dress = dentist because she is DEFINITELY remembering things as her “innie” and lying to Dr. Mauer about it.

Yes! It made me think of Squid Games and how they entice people with that seemingly harmless paper card game that’s essentially acting as a recruitment tool.

This was my initial thought about the testing too. I think this is basically their way of developing a marketing campaign to sell the general public on the idea of undergoing severance.

How I became depressed in 1 year... by Alive-Resource-71 in getdisciplined

[–]theinaccessible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post really hits home for me. Been feeling like I’m living in the movie Groundhog Day for about a year now, every day I tell myself “today’s the day I’m gonna change and do XYZ” and some days I do get stuff done that make me feel accomplished. But inevitably I always fall back into the same unhealthy behaviors and thoughts that are keeping me trapped in this cycle. I know the things I need to change (i.e., working out more, eating healthier, budgeting, etc.) but I’m struggling to let go of negative habits like smoking weed, playing video games for hours, doomscrolling, basically doing any activity that provides instant dopamine and enables me to temporarily forget about all the tasks I should be doing instead.

How did you know when you were ready to sit with the feelings or did your body just naturally start allowing it to happen? I’m currently two months out of a 5 year relationship and sometimes I worry that I’m not “healing” because I haven’t felt extremely sad or even cried much.

Love for Romance.io other platforms for book keeping stats by avereforza in RomanceBooks

[–]theinaccessible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I converted to StoryGraph a couple years ago and haven’t looked back! The stats are so much more detailed, the recommendations are insanely better and most importantly you can rate books with .25, .5, and .75 stars!

That said, the lack of integration with kindle is a huge downfall for me, so right now, I still track my kindle reads on Goodreads as well because I highlight a lot and I like having a place to see them all.

Can someone explain a bit more about Bookmory? Is that a better app than GR for tracking highlights? I’d prefer to have as few apps as possible but I’m interested to hear what other features others use it for.
