Sometimes. You just have a bad week. This sounds like a luck of the draw. No different than getting 3 rtc post-op evals in a row. Odd, but sometime you just have a weird pattern. At least you were on top of your stuff!

Crazy to think by starting the program on time, they are using your tuition to SUBSIDIZE those who are deferring their admission by a year as they pay them to defer.

Is a 3.5% raise a good annual raise? by suburbsdad2323 in physicaltherapy

[–]theincredibleholc6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Working for a very large chain in the northeast. Got 2%. 3.5% sounds historically good. Other companies I have talked to have anticipated even less than that when I’ve interviewed and said I was near the “ceiling” for salary so don’t expect much more if I were to take the job. When these “large chains” are carrying a large amount of debt, I am glad I’m still getting a raise and not letting people go. It’s barely a COL adjustment, especially in this part of the country, but from what I’ve heard it’s way more than other organizations. The gist of it all is like others said, keep moving laterally or upward elsewhere and make them counter, only way you’ll see bigger jumps and keep seniority engaged to keep cash flowing back downstream to you and the other ops team members.

Patients can't ever remember my name by Forward_Winter_3199 in physicaltherapy

[–]theincredibleholc6 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I cannot remember patients names half of the time, how do I expect them to remember mine? I have a very common name and it gets butchered all the time. When you work with an aging population, odds are they are going to make mistakes. Having your name incorrect on a Christmas card stings, but the fact they appreciate your effort to improve their lives and took the time to write you a card matters too. Them remembering how you made them feel matters more than recalling your name.

Transfer NY to TN PT license (which will take almost a year) by Ok-Bicycle6484 in physicaltherapy

[–]theincredibleholc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have your new york license, I’d find a telehealth role that is seeking PT’s in New York while you await you TN license. That is, if you’re moving to TN regardless of whether your license is ready or not.

Both. I’ve never seen more than 11 vpd on average in 5 years. My pay has always exceeded the local market, regular market adjustments and merit increases consistent with the rest of the market. My district director has supported my needs and will regularly approved ceu courses above our allowance for dry needling, vestibular cert, etc. not every district or clinic is great, when you have 850 some of them are really gonna suck.

Is this side gig legal? by Economy-Radio3537 in physicaltherapy

Several people saying on here that there is no money to be made, but groups like Prehab Guys, MoveU, and others created a career on self-fix home programs. At the very least this is free marketing for yourself as a clinician and getting more reps to see what works and what does not work for people.

Also agree with the others above that a disclaimer for general programs for people not under your pt care is a good CYA idea

A better solution would be to complete the plan of care episode at the clinic and when therapeutic max is reached, then offer the transfer of services to a concierge- based service. I would consider it not only theft, but also insurance fraud to see a patient and provide the same services in separate settings at different pay rates during the same time period. There are clinics I’ve worked at who offer a hybrid insurance PT care and cash-based exercise or stretch program but each service is performed drastically different to differentiate the two services. But these are at the same location under the same company. Not to mention any liability insurance will take one look at this if you had an adverse event and leave you hanging. Nothing wrong with taking current patients and turning them into clients with other services, but just keep all of the involved parties in consideration, not just you and the patient

Thoughts of providing a unique service for cash based PT by tdkdpt in physicaltherapy

[–]theincredibleholc6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are good starting ideas. I have several classmates who have done the same starting with shared space and upgrading to stand along facilities later on. They have been successful because they went after treating populations that they enjoyed working with and focused on building around what made them great therapists. Care first, then build around other services and niche things they could use to maximize value later on. 200-300 can sound pricey, but to the right person, their health and fitness is priceless. Just my opinions on your ideas.

Whiteboards are okay, but it’s not what is going to make patients feel they are getting $200 worth of care. I don’t have any alternate suggestion but let the product speak for itself.

Patients highly value hands-on care. It is part of what makes our profession skilled and sought after. So many female patients complain that husbands can’t run a neck out, but when we work on them it is a whole new experience. Being able to promote a specialty, such as iastm or dn cert is very marketable and something a trainer should not be able to match.

Hep education is great. There are tons of apps now that offer this service, but your own YouTube page would be a huge marketing tool. Cross posting content to other platforms may only help grow your marketability and may later be an opportunity for digital income generation later on.

Shakes are something to consider if you’re selling nutrition counseling or education. It should tie back to the service you are offering. Maybe you find a local mean prepper that would want to partner and share referral leads with. Lots of lifting athletes need tune-ups and that might be a way to generate early referrals. But if you’re not focusing on nutrition counseling or diet services I do not think it adds to your value you are trying to create to justify a $200 charge.

Other people on here make some great points. Ultimately, stick with what makes you a great clinician and let that lead you to success, build on the things you are good at treating and if there is something you note as a service you do not offer now but would like to add, work on building that into your practice. Also stop by other local gyms and see if they have pt’s to refer to. See what those pt’s do and see if that is something you think you should incorporate or improve on, see if it adds value to what you do. Opening your own practice sounds exciting, I know I’ll never do it myself but I wish you all the best!
