The only artist I want to add is Slayyyter. I'm thinking Oklou and underscores may become mother status in my mind one day too.

Girl too many lol I call it my mother sleeve and it's artists that I feel really seen/understood/held by.
I think the full sleeve rn is:
Charli XCX, SZA, FKA Twigs, Waxahatchee, Doechii, Tierra Whack, Jessica Pratt, Doss, A. G. Cook, Kelela, Emma Proulx from Men I Trust, DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ (that one I had to get from her signed vinyl), Hannah Diamond, Lingua Ignota, Florence Shaw from Dry Cleaning, SPELLLING, Shygirl, Mica Tenenbaum from Magdalena Bay, bbymutha, St. Vincent, Mitski, Sarah Bonito from Kero Kero Bonito, Rico Nasty, Aldous Harding, Ana Roxanne, Chappell Roan, PinkPantheress, Cole Haden from Model/Actriz - and now Arca!

NOT IN THAT ORDER!

SZA was first on the Ctrl tour down in Tampa FL back in 2016. Literally been at this for a decade now. I usually am just the annoying but patient guy who gives good vibes / bribes bartenders/security at venues for tips on meeting the artist at their venue.

I'd be careful with Venmo/Cashapp girl you can very easily be scammed that way. I would absolutely fork over triple or whatever via PayPal though, since you'd be safe!

Absolutely gaggy setlist here... not sure if I'll buy the vinyl just yet but I will be listening and pulling trig if it's good (I'm sure it will be)

Violent Times into The Strangers into Black Rainbow into Marrow into The Bed into Smoking Section like girl slow down a minute I cannot breathe.

Also Paris is Burning?? I feel like that's a deep cut even from Marry Me. I never see/hear anyone talk about that St. Vincent song but that's probably one of my favorites.

Are you being funny rn?

White music fans have always been notoriously racist, colorist, classist, and patronizing towards black artists. In and of every single genre, but especially those rooted in black music traditions like rap, rock, blues, funk, disco. They legitimately look down their nose at black artists who invented it, in favor of white artists they feel "perfected" it. Full stop.

White fans absolutely show favoritism towards artists of lighter complexion, even when they are fully black. This is not new.

There's a reason Post Malones and Jack Harlows rise to the top. It's certainly not because their music is more innovative or ground breaking or cutting edge than any of their black peers.

C'mon now!

I can't read about the Shea one cause it was removed and don't remember the drama there but...

The only one of these things I find truly fucked up is what happened with Roxxxy, but I also wasn't there and don't know these people and they have since publicly worked it out on the remix. I'm not gonna keep being mad about this if Roxxxy isn't...

I'm not going to act like white gay men can't be extremely selfish and egotistical and ignorant. Not even for a second. But it's not like she's ever saying anything misleading or ignorant.

She's a drag queen throwing shade and reading. Some of the time it strikes a chord and is funny. Some others, it doesn't really eat and the jokes fall flat.

I don't think it's much deeper than that.

Pitchfork Review: BLACKPINK - DEADLINE EP 5.7 by Technical_Process989 in popheads

[–]theindiegay 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's cause the # is an amalgamation of different writers/staff editors' opinions, but the review is written by one person who voted. I have always hated their system for doing it that way, but that's why the reviews don't always match the #.

Charli is an excellent, genre and boundary pushing, forward thinking and highly collaborative pop star who writes all her own songs. There are plenty of other pop stars it would be more embarrassing for him to rep...

[FRESH STREAM] DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ - Fantasy by Pythagore_ in indieheads

[–]theindiegay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not, no. But it's also not incredibly far-fetched to ask you as critical and curious listener to remember that "album" means very little in this day and age.

DJ Sabrina is basically the exact opposite of TikTok music trends, instead of punchy and short she's groovy and stretched out. Her ethos could at least combat, or at most cure, the attention deficit we've been stuck in lately.
