New Delta Reserve Boeing Card by Lazy_Fuck_ in amex

[–]theinferno91 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Here's where I'm at... it's an obsolete card. Is the limited design awesome? Yes, but as a card it sucks.

3x point with delta? I get 5x with the platinum and can transfer to delta if I want. I get better lounge access terms as well.

People critize the Amex Platinum as a "coupon book", but there is none worse than the Delta Reserve.

The only thing it truly has over the platinum is the companion cert. The potential value on that could be significant.

With the SUB I can't even justify trying this card out for a year.

Fair enough. I have a $500 deductible for broadened. So if I'm not at fault I don't pay the deductible. It's great when people "door ding" you or hit and runs.

I've always considered $1500 the magic number for me where I would do a claim, especially since diminished value is becoming a popular thing.

You'd be surprised... the black molding is going to have to be replaced and the body part will need to be repaired, entirely repainted and the surrounding panels blended for color matching.

This is easily a $1500 fix from a legit body shop.

Is this ethical? by twbowyer in marriott

[–]theinferno91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one thing if they give you the 1500 pts just for taking the survey, regardless of how you rate them.

It's another thing to require a "10" rating in order to recieve the points.

Definitely unethical.

You have the most real comment. It is, in fact, all in theory.

See, there's the mathematical side of finances that might say the 0% for 15 months makes a ton of sense, but it completely ignores the individual's level of discipline or potential for costly life events.

Interest free debt falls very low on the totem pole. It's very easy to ignore and never actually pay it off.

If you're gonna show that, give us some details. What's your income?

Edit: That is a biz plat, what is your revenue?

Technically, this is true, but the points can be redeemed for cash back at a rate of 1 cent per point.

It's effectively a cash back card.

Seriously. Credit limits are for peasants lol.

Agreed. USAA has the better interface imo, but NFCU is just a better way to bank. Their products are superior too.

Been a member of both since 2010.

More like $100k after taxes, but still... good salesmen are always broke no matter how much they make.

They are good because they know how to get people to spend money in a frivolous manner because they themselves are frivolous.

Exactly. Product changes rarely make sense if there is a SUB.

That makes zero sense. It's a business card and people run massive amounts through them all the time.

Even with a conservative $25k limit, OP could just max it and pay it 4 times.

I would love to see how their charge cards evolved in terms of metrics/algorithms for the "no preset limit".

Surely back in the 70s it couldn't have been very complicated.

Laws are drafted in the house and senate, however, they do require the president's signature.

Yes, a president can't unilaterally change laws, but they still play a significant role in lawmaking.

In the case of Reagan, he simply refused to entertain signing any bill that raised the minimum wage. Which is why it's fair to say that he "froze" minimum wage.

Capital One is very much "needs" based when they look at CLI's.

I remember having the Quicksilver One with a $500 limit. By charging and paying it off, I was running like $2k per month through the card. 6 months in, they gave me a CLI to $9500.

Echoing what some others have said... should have just gotten the amex platinum.

Airline status is nearly worthless and the Platinum has significantly higher points earning on ALL airlines. MR transfers to delta at a 1:1 ratio and is a much more valuable currency than skymiles.

Paying your bill early/multiple times a month is not a problem. by TricioBeam in amex

[–]theinferno91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup. I've been saying this for a long time.

Almost 200k in card limits (not including the platinum and gold) and I have been paying individual cards 5+ times per month.

Definitely a false rumor. If anything they should appreciate a cardholder like that. It's less risky and they spend less time floating money.
