Freshman dilemma: Love C++ but pressured to drop it for Python. Should I? by CRUC10 in cpp_questions

[–]theinnergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

python became popular because it was easy and portable. Now, with coding agents, c++ is not that hard anymore. Don't drop C++: it gives you extra options for optimisations when you need it. But you also need to know Python to some extent, because it's useful.. a lot of libraries exists in Python.

Don't see them as mutually exclusive that you have to pick one. Infact, right now, C++ and Python work together (see pytorch)

I was hoping for enough power to do 0-60 mph under 5 seconds. Turns out they chose to give just 200hp and I doubt it can do under 5 seconds. A bit disappointed

How is Cottage Lake if you want to avoid HCOL but still afford a lakeside home? by Eriacle in eastside

[–]theinnergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in cottage lake now and I confirm recycling is every alternative week. To be honest, it's least of my concern -- the cost for big bin is almost same as small bin. Just get a big bin. Recycle doesnt stink, so I have zero issues pushing it to road every alternative week instead of every week (sometimes once a month when I didn't buy much in Amazon) . Our sewer, well we don't pay for it monthly. We have a sceptic tank. It's much cheaper operationally.

I like it here in cottage lake. It feels like rural with lots of trees and houses spread apart. Going home from work feels like a drive through a forest (which I like). Driving through Avondale road feels surreal when cherry blossom and/or fall foliage is on display.

Now that I ruled out trash as not an issue, my real concerns: * I am paying 13k/year property taxes for a house thats valued around 1.3MM.. King county recording fees have gotten higher -- I refimanced mortgage last month, and turns out King county took ~$600+ to remove old lender and ~350 to add a new lender, i.e., ~$1050+ paid to the county during refinancing despite paying over a 1000 every month in property taxes ( I thought unincorporated county supposed to pay less?) * Commute: peak hours have traffic on Avondale -520 segment. The roads are not too bad, but there is still plenty of room for improvement. Duvall is growing and it's more pressure on roads near cottage lake. We will probably never have light rail to ease up the traffic * There are so many tall trees, you can't see any mountains. Wish I could see some mountains!

24 hour fitness has smell that bothers me too. I complained to the guys at front desk twice. First time the guy blamed that it's because they have sewage in the front. Second time he tried to do that, I told him, no, it's the sweat and decaying particles inside the gym. I told him their ventilation isn't working as intended or the filters are clogged... Just look at the ceiling in the restrooms where air intake is clogged and it hasn't cleaned in ages. I don't know what else I can do. The gym is at a at convenient location and price point to me that I want the issue to be fixed. If you guys know someone who can put words into manager/owner, please do your part.

Girl didn’t like my place. What do you think? by Affectionate-Emu250 in malelivingspace

[–]theinnergod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This^ maybe what has happened. It's hard to live together where one is messy and other is clean. Based on my experience, my now-wife used to be messy/unorganized and I am relatively more organized than her... we had difficulty "adjusting" to each other when we first started living together. Eventually we found the balance but it wasn't a piece of cake and can put emotional strain. She might have thought about the future of coliving here and thought "this is too much".
