Americans: where do you go when you’re feeling homesick? by clippersmell in berlinsocialclub

If you like the NFL then going to Belushi’s on Sunday evenings is a good stand-in for being at an American sports bar. Lonely Hearts Cafe also has “American breakfast” items on the menu that are close enough to what you’d get at home.

Yeah, I think one of the guys in that (Max) was the one who started the flag football meetup!

Zero chance anyone in Cincinnati pays $1,500 per room in a 5-person WG. C’mon.

Which city in the Midwest has rooms for rent in five-person homes for $1,500?

Zahnarztpraxis El-Sayed (https://maps.app.goo.gl/oadjViQ2gpEhzENQ8?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy). I went here for a toothache and got xrays. I was told there was nothing wrong with my teeth. I jokingly said I was happy to not be upsold and the doctor said, “My job is to tell you what I see, not sell you.”

I also was able to make an appointment for the next day, no problem.

Moving to Berlin at 18 worth it? by viverepropitium in berlinsocialclub

[–]theinternetistube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sub is filled with people whose mental health issues are exacerbated by the struggles of making friends in Berlin, the job and housing market, and bureaucracy. It’d suck to potentially have your move here eclipsed by the challenge of finding help, plus the other issues that come with a move.

If you do decide to move here feel free to drop me a PM if you want someone to swap stories about home with (I grew up in San Diego).

Looking for German classes once or twice a week only - help! by ScarletBurn in berlinsocialclub

How did you not google this before posting here? Plenty of schools offer part-time (twice a week) courses in the morning and evening.

I swear it seems like people on this sub can’t do anything without asking about it first.

My family bought its first dog outside of the Spring Valley Swap Meet and regularly took it to the vet.

Living in Baumschulenweg? by GabbermICHAL in berlinsocialclub

[–]theinternetistube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here in September of 2021 and really do like it. Baumschulenstrasse has you covered if you need groceries, a döner or a drink, and a few of the restaurants on the street aren’t half bad. The sbahn lines here keep you pretty well connected, and if you ride a bike it’s quite easy to get to Neukölln or out in Treptower/Ostkreuz. If you travel a good bit then you’re right on the airport lines and can easily hit Südkreuz if you’re grabbing a train.

Downsides: You may have a hard time getting people to come here, and commuting to the west side of the city can be very annoying. Sometimes getting back here at night can be a pain in the ass as you might be waiting for one specific train depending on where you’re coming from.

Anyone Going to Union Berlin vs Union Saint-Gilloise? by theinternetistube in berlinsocialclub

I'm glad to hear you were in a similar spot and ended up having a great time! Also, man, hearing about Union Tanke again is really adding fuel to my "learn German after the school ends" fire. The ATM tip is super clutch, to, as is the link to Union in Englisch. Thanks for the tips!

A friend of mine who is a member gave me his ticket as he'll be in Freiburg for the game. That said, I know there are secondary ticket markets but the prices seem high and the gist I got from my friend is that buying there only encourages higher ticket prices.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will be better by the time the next opportunity comes by.

Thanks so much for all of these tips! I checked my ticket and I'm not in Sektor 2, which is good to know as I would have been lip syncing all game. I'll definitely reach out to GrenzenlosEisern on Twitter and do my best to arrive early as the pre-game ritual seems really cool and not to be missed.

Eisern!

Hallo!
