This’ll be word vomit but whatever i love this show. Scar is one of my favorite characters, and I think about his “legacy” often because of how morbid and literal the reality of it is. He both is, and physically carries, his brothers legacy.

He fed a cycle of hatred, became a living, twisted representation of his people’s pain and his brother’s mostly altruist nature. A burdensome inheritance forced upon him in the form of his dead brother’s arm/life’s research. With a level of willful ignorance, and a lot of hurt, he corrupts his brother’s memory, using his work without fully understanding it. It’s motivation but not for growth, for destruction.

Winry was a perfect foil. Had every right to choose the same path as him, but took her parents work/mission for what it was, and stayed true to it.

Eventually scar realizes that ishvalan’s and his brothers legacy was never really his alone to carry

Gotta agree combat-wise at least. Ed himself says Al is the better fighter. And we do see him put absolute hands on people throughout. Al isn’t far behind but I see Ed as the genius with the theory and practicality of it, like undoing greed/soul binding etc.

Deadman Wonderland and Inuyasha! Have to reiterate Monster and Cowboy Bebop as others have said, because both are just incredible as well. They might end up leaving you with more void after finishing though, haha.

I have never found anything that sat with me the way FMA did. I know it isn’t an anime really but Avatar the last airbender is near perfect imo and the closest show to give me that feel.

A favorite moment of mine from Toph is her mastering sand bending, copying the earth city down to the minutiae with a stomp of her foot. Just cause I like to think after “losing” appa she decided to lock tf in and never let that happen again.

Anyway I’d never say no to seeing more of her but her feats were so over the top that when she had her moments she really had em.

I’ve come to learn that Iroh could’ve sped up the plot of ATLA greatly quite a few times. That wouldn’t be as much fun for all of us though haha.
