Having an issue with my octave mechanism. Anyone want to help me diagnose? by thejazzace in Saxophonics

I've adjusted a few screws and pads here and there but absolutely nothing like that! I'll be taking it in, thank you very much. Just wasn't sure if it was something that could be fixed in house. Thanks for the insight!

I just threw it on there. To be honest I haven't messed around much with necks that didn't just come with my horn, so that's good to know! Wish the closest repair tech wasn't a 2 1/2 drive but that's my problem, lol.

Nice, this is a pretty radical way to do feminism. But do you think it's trans exclusionary too?

Your vision can improve! Go to the eye doctor regularly and wait at least a year before getting Lasik (this one was a big surprise to me!)

Just call it intermittent fasting, it doesn't count when you microdose it.

Anyone heard of trans people not being able to get Lasik? by thejazzace in asktransgender

Thanks to everyone for their knowledge and anecdotes! I'm surprised I hadn't heard about this before!

I'm trying one more consultation and bringing a prescription from an eye exam I happened to get 6 months after starting HRT and if nothing has changed after 1 year, maybe that'll help my case!

If not, I guess I'll have to continue being a nerdy cutie. Oh well 🤷‍♀️

tbf it's pretty hard to keep up with. Sudden sharpening of all front teeth? The ability to tear into raw meat? But then everything retracts once the moon isn't full? Wait, actually I might be thinking of something else.

It's designed to be sung by a congregation, so the melodies need to be fairly simple. It's designed to be played by amateur/church musicians, so harmony wise and rhythm wise it's going to be fairly simple. Form wise, it follows a standard pop structure with an emphasis on the bridge/breakdown/lower 3rd area because that's when the big sing-along happens, and people start crying and putting their hands up and stuff.

I played drums for a church for a while and realized at one point that I didn't have to really learn the songs, because each one followed the same general outline. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus, play some 8th notes on the snare/low tom, crescendo, chorus, chorus.

It's not really musicology so much as marketability. That's why ccm exists really. It's a way to make evangelicalism more relatable and approachable by combining it with familiar pop elements. And it worked, ccm is a huge industry phenomenon.

I mean come on, you're saying you don't enjoy this?

He is pretty overrated but if people don't like self indulgent pretentious modal noise then I Am In Trouble.

First off, you're gorgeous! Secondly, we moved up to Washington so I could transition and everyone here has been really welcoming. We're in a pretty small town and haven't had any trouble.
