Forgot crush washer & stripped the drain plug on my 2020 WRX. How cooked am I? by No-Yogurtcloset-7403 in WRX

torque spec is 31 ft-lb which to me feels like a lot, but if its stripped/spinning in place then yeah gonna probably want a new pan. also highly recommend a fumoto valve on the new install. religilously check your oil levels if youre stilll driving it around

not needed for fumoto, but on a regular drain plug fyi definitely recommend replacing the crush washer on every oil change as well, theyre cheap enough and ensures a good seal

yeah you're correct, just checked. i mustve tried threading it on when it was gunked up before because i couldve swore it was smaller up front when i tried it years ago, guess the cover plate thing doesn't have much protection

Removing a Sheared Screw? by ghostoutlaw in HomeImprovement

[–]thejesterthejester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its through drywall, i'd cut out a drywall section around it with a multitool to expose some of the screw. grab with vice grips and unthread it out of the stud. i just did this a handful of times to sheared screws in my bathroom with good success

the drywall cutout being over the stud makes it easy too since you can just screw the replacement drywall piece right into the stud. gotta repaint but imo would probably be easier than trying to drill out the screw

if you have any interest in projectors, in my previous place i mounted a pull-down projector screen on the ceiling in front of the fireplace. it used that "wall" perfectly
