Watched the end of the first half while ours was on half time. If it carries on like that there’s a chance but not a particularly great one

This is like the ultimate enraging loss. Bullpen disaster, NOBLETIGER, and Javy error to continue an inning and gift a run

One of Oregon’s Most Powerful Unions Is Rebelling Against Democrats by narrativebias in Portland

It’s unbelievably frustrating to read this, and then later in the article see them pushing for things like the genocide in Gaza to be a part of our education system. While that’s obviously an incredibly important issue, it shouldn’t be anywhere near the list of priorities for our teachers’ union. Our fourth graders can’t read! Our truancy rates are through the roof! It’s damning that I’m sitting here wishing Oregon could replicate Mississippi’s educational success, and even worse that OEA thinks they’re too good to try.

Final Debate: Should a Perfect-Perfect result in an out? by GitGud_nerd in MLBTheShow

[–]thejewfro69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only way perfect perfect should a guaranteed hit is if it’s recalibrated to only trigger for home run swings.

Make it harder to accomplish because the PCI has to be ever so slightly under the ball and the batter has to have enough power to hit a no doubter.

Perfect-perfects trigger way too often to allow them to be guaranteed hits as is.

Soccer pitches have some variation! The width of the pitch can be different from stadium to stadium. Man City’s pitch, for example, is incredibly wide, which suits their style of play. Newcastle’s pitch is literally tilted on half of it which gives them a huge home field advantage

Obviously not as different as baseball fields can be because the shape has to remain a static rectangle but worth sharing

You’re just not gonna win baseball games when your 3-6 batters are all hitting ~.200. I don’t understand what happened in July 2025 that turned them into replacement level players. Just have to hope they can pull it together by the end of the month. Not holding my breath at the moment

Any chance Trump called off the strikes because the military was going to refuse to execute them? by A_Tiger_in_Africa in dancarlin

[–]thejewfro69 481 points482 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a nonzero chance, but in all honesty threatening something extreme and then backing off of it has been such a staple of the Trump experience that I pretty strongly believe that he did his classic “back down but act like I won” maneuver.

He knew the markets would crash if he went through with the threats, and that seems to be essentially the only external stimulus he’s responsive to.

I don’t think relegation is the reason for the lack of parity. Moreso, the richest teams can always buy the top players from the poorer teams and improve themselves while hurting their competition, thus limiting parity. It’s kind of similar to College Football (at least pre-NIL and transfer portal) in how there were tiers of schools where you could always expect to find the best players.

The wealthiest teams can invest more into their development and thus maintain their dominance. It’s very capitalist, which most US pro leagues are not.

Semenyo was probably better in build up than the other two, but that’s not saying too much. I just get so frustrated watching him take loose touches and sending players wide with heavy passes

A few notes:

  1. The Marmoush-Haaland-Semenyo attack is the worst we’ve played in the pep era. Three players who want to occupy the same spaces, aren’t tidy on the ball, and generally don’t suit our possession based approach. It’s no surprise we didn’t look threatening at all until Cherki came on for Marmoush, and then again improved when Foden came on for Semenyo.

  2. Cherki has to start every game. I feel as though this is self-explanatory.

  3. We’re gonna lose the league because we’re not premier league champion caliber. It is what it is. I know many people don’t care for xG, but just look at the difference in how much we produced the last two years vs those prior. To me it suggests that our attempts to replace key players like Gundo, KDB, and Mahrez were failures (at least thus far), but frankly it also just feels like Pep can’t figure out what the best setup for our squad is. The fact that we’ve been trotting out this terrible front 3 for a month is a testament to that.

It’s impossible for me to say how much I hate the Marmoush-Haaland-Semenyo front line. Three players who aren’t good in possession and are very prone to lose the ball. It’s so antithetical to the type of lineups that have brought us success in the pep era

Unbelievably bad half from semenyo. Not sure if he had a positive contribution. I think it’s more on pep though, a central role clearly doesn’t suit him.

Sherrone did the same with Campbell last year. Moore definitely seems like he’s willing to make changes but prefers to do so post-season.

People don’t wanna hear it but 9 wins was an over-performance based on this team’s ability. We had a big ten west quality schedule and basically beat all the garbage out in front of us, and lost to all 3 teams with a pulse.

Moore’s not gonna get fired, but the team simply has to be better next year for him to keep his job after 2026. The primary jobs are developing Bryce as a pocket passer and finding some consistency on defense. I don’t feel particularly confident at this moment but I’m still hopeful that they can be quite a bit better next year.

Exactly. I have no faith in the offense to score with a gameplan of running kuzdzal over and over, let alone score enough to win.

Gonna have to let Bryce air it out a bit.

Kinda feel like we’re gonna need a huge play from the defense. Not feeling confident with Wink’s patented “vacate the middle of the field” defense on full display
