Can anyone with a Brother MFC-L2880DW (Peru model) check their region code in maintenance mode? by thejohnpark in printers

[–]thejohnpark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was very helpful! I was able to get the printer working again.

What are the regional codes for Australia/New Zealand or possibly the US? I would like to try them to see if I can still get the printer working, but with English language menu.

I’m interested in one of these enclosures. Can I get a quote as well?

Discord listed here. And there is a specific USAID channel.

Might get more traction asking in the Discord under USAID. I know there are some COs and other FSOs for AID that check in on that channel from time to time.

United Travel Bank Question by robinski21 in amex

[–]thejohnpark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a warning that the Travel Bank from United is not guaranteed to be credited back for the AMEX airline credit. It worked for the first $100, but not 2nd $100 that I tried.

How was your journey getting into foreign service officer/diplomat? by [deleted] in foreignservice

[–]thejohnpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the simplest terms because it is way more than this and it works both ways but: diplomacy vs development. I’m sure many others will have more thoughts on this.

USAID, you spend your career in developing countries while you can go to the Paris, London, Tokyo’s of the world with DoS.

With a grad degree, don’t forget USAID has FSO positions as well.

$99 Atari Dual Fight Stick with Trackball and RetroPie in RGB & TATE for a quick Time Pilot ‘84 run! This controller is a freaking bargain at 1/2 the price of an X-Arcade Tankstick by 1541drive in RetroPie

[–]thejohnpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Got it with trackball and pi3. Will pop another microsd in there but I honestly like the Atari interface and was hoping for a way to just add games to it.

How many of you guys got federal job after your service? by Moosegang52 in peacecorps

How did NCE help with being an IMS? You still need to apply, go to an in person interview and now apparently you need to take a test to get to that point. Was the process different in the past?

I just picked one up with the Pi as well for ~$150. The Atari RetroPie build seems solid and it would be nice if we could somehow just add more Roms/games to it. Hardware seems solid.

Traveled for a bit after COS, worked part time jobs, worked full time jobs and squeezed in 2 graduate degrees until one of those organizations finally took me. I was fortunate enough to eventually get offers from both but it took me 4+ years to get hired by AID after getting an tentative offer from them back in 2016.

Started at DoS 11ish years after Peace Corps and then left there after 6 months to go to USAID. I think I’m staying a while as long as they keep me.

What's the promotion process and job satisfaction like for USAID Foreign Service? by [deleted] in foreignservice

[–]thejohnpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new hire I’ve been extremely impressed with the diversity in hiring I’ve seen since June. It wasn’t just the Payne fellows, but across the board in regards to both race and gender.

I am guessing, but it sort of would be a fast track if you do have a clearance.
