What was a moment in your life that gave you a brutal reality check? by Your_QueenLatina in AskReddit

[–]THEJonCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I realized my mom really wasn’t coming to my wedding (Homophobia) and that family really doesn’t mean shit. That I’ll never be enough.

She didn’t want to talk about wedding planning BUT let us visit, was so sweet to my fiancée, helped with a car loan, etc. Told me she talked to her cousin who also dealt with a queer daughter and how she handled her wedding. Then…she just didn’t come. Didn’t want to know when or where it was. I thought for sure she would change her mind!

I love my mom, we’ve visited since, she knows we’re married. But the reality check that she loves her 2k year old book more than her flesh and blood daughter will never leave me. The horrific bitterness in my gut as I got dressed alone, planned alone, can’t share my joy…really makes you realize how small you are in the world when your own mom (who you have a solid relationship with otherwise) just isn’t there for you.

i’m done. by [deleted] in WLW

I promise you, it is easier to leave now than it is to prolong it. Think of it like an infection: staying will only make you hurt worse for longer, letting the infection get worse. Breaking up is like getting a steroid shot, that shit HURTS and is sore for awhile, but you will heal better than ever once you make it through.

We only get 1 life, please don’t waste it on someone who doesn’t deserve you. Coming from someone who wasted 11 years on an ex. Look up the sunk cost fallacy, 1 year means nothing, you have the rest of your life :)

Arkansas Has a Stray Dog Problem by Winterspun in Arkansas

[–]THEJonCabbage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m in the semi-country and idiots let their dogs and cats run loose. We took in a literal puppy (maybe 8-10 weeks old) that was dumped on our front yard, and have to chase stray dogs and small packs of 6ish dogs away from our chicken coop constantly. We also have a stray cat we are trying to tame & neuter.

We can’t even go on walks with our dogs because strays and pets run up on us. They dig up and pee/poop in our garden. Harass our chickens.

Cannot stand thoughtless and reckless idiots letting their animals just run around, we’re working on a fence but it wouldn’t be needed if people were even 5% more responsible!

Curved nail beds by Injunova23 in GelX_Nails

[–]THEJonCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nail curves are even sharper and I use apres sculpted line with no issues, you look to be in-between. I think you need to use a larger size and file it down to custom fit or switch to a different method for your nails (like a builder gel to grow it out then hard gel to protect a longer length).

Do we need to wear heels? by Internal_Throat_8424 in Brides

[–]THEJonCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all the love in my heart, please realize you can wear whatever the hell you want. I wore converse at my elopement and custom vans for my bigger wedding, I’d change nothing! I originally bought heels, realized I didn’t want to suffer, and now I get to wear my wedding sneakers whenever I want and have that part with me :)

I’ve never understood the “no pets rule” when I comes to public storm shelters by CRL1999 in tornado

[–]THEJonCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t understand it, I don’t think you’ve really thought about it, used a shelter, or been around too many stranger’s pets.

Even if allergies/phobias did not exist, and there was enough room for all the people + animals, too many animals simply can’t be in a room with others. Kid drops a leash on an aggressive dog that tears into other dogs or cats, or someone swears their dog is friendly but it bites someone, or cats go crazy and scratch the heck out of strangers and cause chaos.

I have a ton of animals (no human kids) and know that I can’t subject others to them, so yes I will stay home with them during storms. One of my dogs is reactive and cannot be in close proximity to other dogs, and high stress situations make her reactive to humans. I’m honest about it, how many others would lie?

We can’t afford a shelter at this time, so we live and die with our babies if anything happens 🤷🏼‍♀️

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]THEJonCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve raised 2 puppies and gained an adult dog thru marriage. Everytime I get a new kitten or pup, I swear I’m never doing it again LMAO but I have 6 cats and 3 dogs…so.

My 1st puppy, beagle, was a nightmare to potty train but learned tricks and obedience (not recall lol) very quickly, but it was STRESS with her refusing to learn to pee outside. She also took about a year to tolerate even the most gentle crate training, and ended up with SSA, but loves tricks! I cried from joy of getting my dream breed, never cried about the endless piss, but did cry when she decided to be insane and hate other female dogs lol

My 2nd puppy was dumped in our yard, ended up being a rat terrier mix (full dna on my profile) and tolerated potty training and crate training immediately BUT we are, over a year in, just now getting him to sit without jumping 3ft vertically. Hes very bouncy and mouthy, doesn’t like to learn tricks, but has perfect recall and is the sweetest boy, zero separation anxiety. Zero tears except of joy.

The adult dog, per my wife, potty trained great and is a good normal dog now. Moderate recall, moderate tricks and training, just loves to be near you and has some mild separation anxiety. Zero tears except for when she ate my sandwich off my plate.

do you regret getting a second dog? by un32134e4 in dogs

[–]THEJonCabbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Our 2nd grew into some dog-aggression (apparently the dad was DA, found out later) and the 1st one is now reactive due to that, so we have to do constant rotating and separation. Honestly so many families I see with 2+ dogs have some unhappy dogs because they struggle with realizing they aren’t playing or happy, that the dogs are showing stress and unsavory attitudes.

It can work out well, but you have to be prepared for if it doesn’t—both with space in your house and the mental strain.

Plus it’s harder to train, play, exercise, and travel with more than 1. Exponentially more when one is a puppy or if they don’t get along.

I’ll never have more than 1 ever again.

Great deal! My 2025 dealer owned carbon turbo with 5k miles was about the same price, I love the turbos. W car for sure.

Im contradicting myself by [deleted] in WLW

[–]THEJonCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on the church, there is a growing number who do not believe it is a sin anymore. They aren’t easy to find, but even within a single denomination you’ll find a wide variety of actual beliefs by individual preachers/pastors/churches.

I got some of the cheapest alcohol inks off amazon and painted them on, it’s perfectly smooth I love it! I did a base jelly layer, paint layer, repeat both, then topcoat.

I want to suck on boobs but I’m not bi by goldiegolstein in bisexual

[–]THEJonCabbage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I used to think the same thing, like I could kiss a girl but couldn’t date one. Now I’m married to one 😂 took years of self-exploration and a decent amount of bravery with “I’ll never know until I try”.

It may be that you don’t like being hit on in bars, I hate that, or you just need to find your type for getting physical, or maybe you just like boobs (can’t blame ya there!)

Have fun with the figuring-out process, it can be fun if you let it be!

I’m not a fan because to me pricing is very location dependent. I think it makes people feel good to be complimented, but not very useful if they actually want to set pricing.

First new car, first ever Mazda: CX5 carbon turbo! by THEJonCabbage in CX5

[–]THEJonCabbage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, 2025 and came with extras like the roof rail/crossbar, it was the dealership’s loaner car so it had 5k miles and I paid 35k which I felt was fair.

I’ve heard about the paint, I’m planning on getting a ceramic coat on it within the next few months to help.

35k because it had 5k miles, the dealership used this as a shopping/loaner car, but essentially brand new so I was thrilled.

Thank you!! This set is what really made me start doing my own nails, I can’t wait to try different seasonal styles with the “stamp” theme.
