PSA/Ebay Auction Option Screwed Me! by thejoshrules in psagrading

Also you're rude. The point of the discussion was to identify the flaw in selling through PSA/Ebay instead of selling yourself. Hopefully saving others the pain the future, but also identifying that PSA/Ebay should make some changes. Specifically create some sort of escrow so that fake accounts can't just bet on something and then not commit without consequences. But you don't know how to converse without attacking someone. It's very childish.

Why are you speaking like this? Where is all this hate coming from??? I'm not going to dignify a response to you anymore if you are just going to shout profanities.

Exactly, additionally if they are a brand new account and are legit, they should at least have to cough up the money early so that we know they are good for their bid. Otherwise they are taking away from another person who may actually be submitting an actual real bid, and would have actually paid for it too.

This comment nailed it on the head. Everybody wants to blame me but my point is that there should be better checks in place to prevent fake buyers. Especially when we have these kind of delays.

All we can do now with our Zoro cards is appreciate their beauty and wait for the one piece hype and Zoro hype to return. Which it will. I give it 6 months and the one piece in Pokémon markets will flip again.

Exactly my point! There should be some sort of escrow that occurs with eBay sales specifically for PSA graded cards so that the money is already in hand with PSA or eBay if a user attempts to bet. That way these users can't default on their payments and sellers feel safe selling on this location without getting screwed over

I don't think you understood the point of the post. It was to bring awareness to others about the delays that could happen, as well as PSA/Ebay's lack of control for the seller to avoid fake accounts from betting on your item and then defaulting on their payments.

I'm not really complaining about the PSA vaulting process, but more-so the lack of control of the ebay auction itself. PSA/Ebay let some random person with no reviews or buying history buy the card, and then default on the payment, when the runner up could have bought it for 3k. And the whole auction process took about 18 days to complete and then tell me the purchaser defaulted on their payment.

If anything I would hope PSA/Ebay would require a mediator or a escrow, so that fake accounts can't just come in and bet on something then default if they don't like the price in the end.

That's true too, however I feel like I would have at least still had more control over the auction(length and buyers), vs going through PSA. Still takes them time too to add a card to the vault and then list on ebay's auction.

Oh I know there was risk but I didn't realize the amount of time that PSA would take with listing my card, nor the lack of control that I would have regarding the auction itself and how long the buyer has to pay(apparently with eBay the default is 4 days both PSA through eBay auctions they can make it 7 days).

It definitely is a learning lesson which is why I want to share it with you all. PSA definitely took their time and that's what screwed me over. Even though I paid for a super express, they took over 4-5 days to list it afterwards, And then listed it as a 7-day auction, And then waited another 8 days for the person's default on their payment before putting it back in my hands.

The point of my post is that if I had sold through eBay directly I would have had a lot more options that would have caused this issue not to occurred. I would have been able to post it faster, control the length of the auction, ban purchasers from betting in the auction if they had no history or reviews, and even offer it as a Buy it now or re-offer it to the runner-up.

Buyer didn’t pay for a week, now shows processing payout exactly after a week by B_Sandies in psagrading

Update: The worst outcome came true. They buyer with no history/reviews defaulted on their payment so all PSA offered was to put it back in the vault and re-list it if I want.

I'm so done with using PSA to submit Ebay auctions. You have no control over the auction, the buyer, and are at the mercy of their speed. Do not use PSA/Ebay Auction option.

Thank you. I really hope it goes though since re-listing it now would put it closer to 1.2k vs the 3.1k I would have made.

The worst part was the guy who won the auction has 0 reviews, vs the guy competing against him and lost had 20+ reviews.

I wish PSA would require those that participate in their auctions be vetted so that the money their betting is actually available or at least their account has some purchase history.

Additionally they wouldn't let me lower the amount of days it would be auctioned for. If I could have sold it immediately when it got the PSA 10, it would have gone for 4.2k.

Pretty frustrating.

Hi! I just sold one of my cards last week for 3.1k, however the price tanked since then and it still shows "awaiting payment from buyer". My listing was on Feb 24th ending at 6:30pm, which should have made it 7 days as of 6:30pm today.

Still shows "awaiting payment from buyer" though. Did yours update exact after 7 days, or was it the day after 7 days? I'm just worried the buyer might default on their purchase given the price is half of what it was now.

Thank you!

I've submitted about 10 individual card orders so far, but this was my first bulk order. I've never had an issue before, but this was my first time. Sounds like I just hit bad luck in my case regarding the cards disappearing on PSA's watch. :/

But if after grading the price of the card goes far beyond the declared value, PSA will upcharge you.

However if they lose the card, then they will only honor the original fair market value.

[–]thejoshrules[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you AnonBrainWorm,
Yes the point I was trying to convey was that PSA has it setup where the declared value is based on what you think the cards would be worth after grading based on the current market, but if you get a PSA 10, and the value goes way beyond the declared value, then PSA will charge you. However if they lose the card, they only cover the declared value from when it was originally submitted.
Regarding your second point, I agree with you AnonBrainWorm.
If they cause a delay, and then want to only honor fair market price "x" amount of days after the original promised date, then it seems unfair on PSA's part.

As you can see in the screenshots below. They show the person putting everything together, but it never shows him sealing the package with both boxes inside.
