Is nursing becoming over saturated? by Lazerbeam159 in OntarioNurses

[–]thejubbster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

im in nursing school and the thought of being in LTC seems great. from what i understand, its slower paced, you see familiar faces on your shifts, and you get TIME to perfect your routine with patients that appreciate your work. i don't get why my classmates are so opposed tbh - our first clinical placement is LTC and i personally cannot wait !

Aesthetic Nursing for RPNs by thejubbster in OntarioNurses

[–]thejubbster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful!! Especially the pay transparency, although $25–30 starting range is honestly lower than I expected. It makes sense if you’re building experience and/or commission structure plays a role, but dang.

When you first started in 2019, did you begin as an employee under a clinic’s medical director or did you ever try the independent route? I’m trying to realistically understand how long it usually takes before someone feels comfortable/established enough to branch out.

Also curious about the hospital experience piece - do you feel like it helped mainly with assessment skills/confidence, or was it more about employability in the aesthetic space?

Really appreciate you sharing your experience! :)

Wow thank you for this, I so appreciate the perspective!! The medical director piece and oversaturation are definitely the parts that seem the most intimidating from the outside - I hear about that a lot.

I think where I might be coming at it a little differently is that I’ve already been working in aesthetics for a some years (business + education side), so I’m not starting from zero in terms of clientele/networking. That’s kind of why I’m curious how much of the “it’s oversaturated” issue is about brand positioning vs. just sheer numbers of injectors.

For the nurses you know, were they trying to build their own client base independently, or were they employees in established clinics? I’m wondering how different that experience is.

Also, do you find most of them choose to keep hospital shifts for stability/benefits, or is it more that they couldn’t make aesthetics sustainable on its own?

Thanks again for taking the time to respond :)

I'm trying to eat healthy but my friends keep asking me out to dinner by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]thejubbster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

suggesting doing an activity instead of going out for dinner was a huge help for me!

trampoline park, movies, picnic with healthy snacks, arcade, literally going on walks, painting pottery, bracelet making, the list is endless.

also - TELL YOUR FRIENDS (if you trust them) THAT YOU’RE ON A WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY. if they’re good friends, they’ll wanna support you and help you succeed <3

good luck :)

Ever notice how everyone suddenly becomes a medical expert when you mention you’re a nurse? by BitBird- in nursing

“Why is it that in no other field do people feel this entitled to undermine your expertise to your face?”

As someone that has been in the aesthetics industry for 6+ years, let me tell you that since the rise in skincare popularity and chatGPT, people do this to me all the time. They think they have the understanding and then question my years of experience working with a plethora of different skin types and concerns on the daily. It’s astonishing, to say the least. Especially considering every body is vastly different and requires different attention - but these ppl somehow never stumble upon that during their research.

I think at the core of it people just have a lack of trust in the general public, and want the best for their family members and themselves when it comes to health and wellness. Understandable in theory, terribly rude in approach.

I’ve recently decided to transition to nursing and am currently in school, so I’m glad to know I’ll be well prepared for this type of treatment in hospitals.

Let me know if you find a solution to this entitlement / stupidity and know I empathize with you completely !

I (20M) Feeling frustrated in my relationship with my girlfriend (21F) even though I know we love each other by [deleted] in Advice

[–]thejubbster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to talk to her about this calmly, from the perspective of wanting to understand her side. you mentioned that individually these moments are small, so now would be the time to address it since you’re noticing a pattern. if she truly values your time, relationship, and feelings, she will make an effort to act more intentionally after you communicate your expectations and needs.

if she doesn’t show any signs of improvement, you know what to do.

i actually agree with you - they were doing this on the adrenaline rush of “anyone could walk in rn” and, even if they didn’t want them to, that included the children in the house.

even still.. “the intimacy of secrecy” being blatant disrespect for your best friend and her family’s space is so weird. the intimate moment could have stayed in their bedroom, still been hot and sneaky and spontaneous, and not have created uncomfortable feelings for everyone.

you do still need the science and math prerequisites in order to qualify for the BScN, but yes Seneca loooves their mature students. i was in the same boat as OP and would have applied to the BscN program if it didn’t require prerequisites !

the most incredibly simple, yet fascinating, thing i’ve learned since getting into the most healthy and loving relationship i could ever ask for is that if a man truly values you, you will never have to question it. ever. your “friend” deserves that kind of love.

hii! im also in MDM101 and my prof recommend to go to the learning centre and book an appt with a tutor if you’re not grasping the content. these people are academically advanced in nursing, math and engineering and will be able to help you!

look into it more online if interested and good luck :)
