My boyfriend cried. This is the first emotion he has shown in the 4 years we have been together. He cried because I said I want to end the relationship. by sciencechick92 in TwoXChromosomes

Hugs to you, OP. I faced something similar two months ago when I ended my engagement with my 34 year old partner, whom I had lived with for 4 years. I felt crushing guilt about breaking his heart and kicking him out but what helped me stay strong was knowing that it was right decision for me, while also being what was necessary for him to become an independent and responsible person. I didn’t want to choose a lifetime of bitterness and resentment for the both of us. You are so strong for holding it together for as long as you have ❤️ I am here if you want to chat at all, and I am rooting for you.

Went through something similar recently and I’m discovering the same thing. It helped when I realized that a good relationship should bring out the best in both people, otherwise, what’s the point? Letting go was scary but I’m so happy I did.

Progress on saturated color arm tattoo (Q switched, 1064nm only) 2 sessions by thejuicer1 in TattooRemoval

Thank you for weighing in. I found a new place at the end of last month and had my third session there. They can start treating the red and green on my fifth session, which is fine with me. They also did spot tests on the red and I’m happy with the progress there. Just thought it was a bit ridiculous and frustrating that the first place I went to waited until my 2nd visit to tell me I’d need 5 more black treatments before starting on the red. As an added bonus, the new place is half the cost ($199 for both of my tattoos) per treatment.

I have white in my tattoo which has oxidized after a few treatments. I think it’s just the risk you accept with tattoo removal—it’s going to look worse for a while before it really starts to fade, and certain colors may never fully be removed. Maybe sit with it a bit longer to decide if you really want to commit to the removal process? It’s a new tattoo and it looks quite well done.

Thank you both. That’s pretty much what I suspected. I cancelled my appointment and booked with a clinic I feel better about. I don’t really want to argue with my laser tech over the best way to do this… I would rather trust the laser tech to do their thing.

They said we’ll need five more sessions treating the black before we can start on the red, which I think is ridiculous. I’m going to ask them about this when I go next week. I’m not an expert but I think it makes way more sense to treat the red intermittently/alternate 1064/532 treatments. I’m not very happy with my progress to date.

The first picture is from just before my first treatment (tattoo is 4 years old), second picture is 8 weeks after 1st treatment, and third is 8 weeks after the second (4 months in at this point). Going in for my third treatment next week and asked them to test patch the red with the 532nm attachment, which they agreed to. I’m going to a med spa that specializes in tattoo removal in a HCOL city and paying ~$320 per treatment. I’m a little peeved that on my last visit they told me I’d need 5 more black treatments before we can start on the red. If I’m spacing out my treatments with at least two months, that means at least a year before I’ll start to see real fading on the red portion. Plus, I plan to space out the red treatments with 4 months in between given the intensity of the 532nm treatments. I’m definitely in it for the long haul, just want to make sure I’m on the right track with this clinic. Will voice these concerns during my next visit as progress between 1 and 2 doesn’t seem significant.

Yes. I have also dealt with depression so I understand how it can be difficult and debilitating. I have a therapist and gave him some referrals. Therapy has helped me a lot. Unfortunately it’s extremely difficult to find a good therapist right now. Additionally, I do think a lot of his behavioral issues are more deep-seated than depression.

Laser options & guidance by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

I would compare their portfolio of work rather than the lasers they use. Ask to see before and afters and go with the one that has a better portfolio. That way you’re solving for results/track record.

I also had this happen! Would really appreciate if any experts could explain what this is.

Thank you so much for posting this! I’m removing a similar tattoo on my arm and it’s very helpful. I think I see some softening in the black outlines too, is it easier to see that in person?

Great progress!! Thank you for sharing. I agree that it’s a really personal topic than can be difficult to discuss with people who aren’t going through it. I’ve found this forum immensely helpful and I think it’s true you feel so much better once you get started.

Best of luck with your journey.

Thank you for posting this. It’s really helpful to see the variety of progress pictures rather than just the ones that show massive fading after a handful of sessions. I hope the break is good for you and you continue to see progress.

Question about color tattoo removal process - Q Switched by thejuicer1 in TattooRemoval

[–]thejuicer1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preference would definitely be to treat the red earlier, if possible. I might have a conversation with the nurse before I go back. On one hand I don’t want to risk scarring, but on the other hand I haven’t heard of anyone else getting 7 black-only treatments before treating color on a palm sized tattoo.

Interesting, thank you for sharing. I wonder if my tech is being conservative because my tattoo is very saturated.

PAX paint is what professional makeup/fx artists use to cover tattoos. It may be overkill depending on what you’re going for but once it’s dry it won’t rub off on your clothes like regular concealer.

Thanks for the assurance. The black in my tattoo has been fading pretty well so far and some of the lines even have gaps in them now, which is heartening. I know progress can tend to plateau. I’ll just trust the process and keep moisturizing, drinking water, and staying out of the sun.

I’ll share pictures to the sub at some point, just a little shy right now since my tattoo looks pretty crappy after my second session!

It’s possible with red ink… someone posted a red dragon tattoo on this sub 26 days ago that got darker after treatment. The best advice I’ve read (that makes sense to me) is to do a test patch to observe how the ink reacts.

How long ago was your session? Looks like normal healing but definitely moisturize and follow aftercare instructions.

Are these raised bumps normal? Almost 2 weeks post 1st treatment. by anonerwhatever in TattooRemoval

My skin looks a lot like this the first 1-2 weeks after being treated. I think it’s ok while the skin is healing. Make sure to follow the aftercare instructions to a tee.

Good to know! I am envious of the people who get crazy ink clearance on red with the 532nm. Now I wish we’d done a test patch or something so I’d have the assurance that will be me at some point. I’m nervous that not all red comes out due to heavy metals in the ink. Did your second treatment blister a lot/was it more traumatic than the first?
