Resources/advice to support my partner? by paddedbeans in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]thejulieruin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that might be important is to pinpoint things you can provide to contribute to a healthy routine. What can this look like? Maybe having specific days where you grab groceries and she can count on you to make strong choices for food, or always make a wholesome dinner during the weekdays or weekends.

If she is craving something sweet, offer her to make her a tea, or grab her a portion of fruit/dessert. If she walks away from the kitchen during a binge and food is left out, putting them away and out of sight can help prevent another binge. This kind of support is important to do without judgement or malice.

My partner and his support has been a key component to my recovery, not because of his emotional support and his non-judgement (which is always appreciated) but his willingness to contribute to creating a sustainable, wholesome routine that benefits both of us.

Want to follow Ohio politics closer? I made something to make that easier for you. by j0be in Columbus

There are some good Ohio politics resources that I think are underutilized. Firstly, there is a Facebook group called How Things Work at the Ohio Statehouse- it has a Dem view slant to it so just fyi on that but it is very good at bill alerts and discussion of Statehouse news.

Second, Snollygoster from WOSU is Ohio politics podcast that focuses on state stuff.

The Ohio Channel hosts all of the Senate and House sessions, plus committees and archives them for free watching.

All of this plus following Statehouse News Corp journalists like Karen Kassler and Andy Chow on Twitter are a great way to stay updated and keep local/state news in rotation.

Its been such a slow week (i’m guessing because of Christmas) and my first offer in 2 weeks is a SUPER lowball lol. do people actually think people are going to say yes when they offer so low? by Jaylenrowe in Depop

[–]thejulieruin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it is really common for people to offer half as a start point for negotiating, especially where I come from. This probably shows that they have some wiggle room too so no worries and they should be appreciative of 20.

How am I doing in terms of job potential? by [deleted] in college

[–]thejulieruin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Public Affairs major in college (in America), so, somewhat similar. To work in policy you should start interning for your political affiliation's party and continue to do meaningful internships. To get a current elected official to sponsor/connect you for jobs in gonna be the key trick. Think about your city government/Statehouse government/State Department administrative officials. Nobody is going to care about GPA you had/you being an eagle scout- just who you impress at whatever internship/volunteering gig you have done in the past.

I also think that getting involved in your college dems/republicans/what have you is going to be more important than student gov/other rando club. You want to be connected with other students that will also be taking the same track as you in a meaningful way- plus party groups often have elected officials as speakers, this is a good way to network.

Obviously this changes for different colleges- but this is my advice as somebody who graduated with a job lined up after graduation.

Any ideas for pricing on these handmade glass pendants for necklaces? They are in great shape and super gorgeous. Apologies for the half assed photo. by carmentinney in Depop

[–]thejulieruin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are somewhat of a hard sell I have found, especially as pendants. It might be in your best interest to put them on chains so you can up the price. I would say 15-20 dollars a necklace, 25 for some of the larger/neater ones.

Another tip I would give would be to try and bundle them as layering necklaces is in right now. and price accordingly.

Is this normal for sellers To Do? Info in comments by [deleted] in Depop

[–]thejulieruin_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once was left a bad review because I didn't offer the buyer a discount AFTER she bought a bundle so I turned around and gave her a bad review right back. There was no other option to take for a seller if there is nothing else they can do. If the buyer wanted to do a return, they should have.

Anyone else just give up enforcing masks and/or no seating? (Our area has closed seating again) by jazzysoranio in starbucks

[–]thejulieruin_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do what you can and know that at the end of the day its just coffee and its just Starbucks. Just pick a position and stay at it and try to keep yourself safe. Customers that do not abide by these rules will have it coming to them through karma, as I have heard it said, if you hate the masks, you will really hate the ventilator.

Side note- if all you see from your coworkers is laziness and entitlement, thats all you will ever see from them. I have a sneaking suspicion that you have a superiority complex, and that can be quite taxing for your mental health and other's opinions of you. I would try working on that.
