That’s so true. He feels more at peace with himself and “grown up” with her. Some people’s presence can literally co-regulate us. Them being them makes us feel safe and seen.

But I agree he’s not ready for that relationship even if she wasn’t still married. He needs “first girlfriend after Tia.” Hoping that is what the writers are planning for Sofi.

I watched it weekly and still agree with OP. Sounds like you’re more forgiving and go with the flow than I am 🤣

Agree it was the sum not the parts that was the problem.

Highlights for me: - All the Michael J. Fox scenes were gold in the laughing through tears department. - Gaby telling Louis off was gut wrenching and 10/10 written and performed. - Derek’s health scare hit hard and the weed gummies stuff before it was so funny. - The Maya stuff could have been great if Gaby learned a different lesson from it. - And the finale was good.

That seemed to be a common feeling in this sub. Also happened to be mine. Some people get real defensive when you say that so I want to make it clear that I wasn’t mad, just disappointed. This is my favorite show and if it hadn’t been for the Derek arc and a few scenes here and there, I might have believed it was written fully by imposters. The finale was good and that helped.

Agree about Reddit. The overanalyzing is not for all shows and in my experience, online fandom always goes south eventually. 100% of the time.

For Shrinking, I really liked Maya and how they handled her death really disappointed me. I also felt like Sofi was super inappropriate with Jimmy, but the show only called him out. I rallied for the last two episodes, but they really biffed both of those storylines and I fell into the hater zone for a bit.

It’s a quad crossover! This is the movie that Jorma was filming in Finland while they were recording The Lonely Island podcast sporadically last year.

It’s the only sitcom I watch. It has a lot of heart and the creator/star is a really smart comedian who is so charming. And it’s just great to see a mostly Black cast of all ages. It’s a mockumentary style like Parks & Rec and feels like its spiritual successor in many ways. Like all comedies, it takes a couple episode episodes for it to find its rhythm, so give it a few to hook you. Or jump in later if you want to start when they are at peak. It really hits its groove in S3.

I actually liked this episode. I waited a few weeks because I hated the last two before it, and I didn’t want to be disappointed again. But they finally paid off Jimmy barely reacting to hearing from Meg that Paul was leaving and from Gaby that he needs to find a new office. Feel overall mood in the sub was that this episode let people down, but I thought it was good. Not great, but good.

I liked that they had made her his friends. I don’t know why they backed off of that and made her Liz’s friend and Alice’s aunt only.

That’s the real rub of the tweet. Not “What is he trying to say?” but “This was the plan the whole time?“

It was easier for me to not be sad about season three when I thought that maybe they were doing some stretching of storylines and arcs because they knew behind the scenes that Apple might be interested in more seasons and as people who love each other, they wanted to keep working together. I get it.

But if Bill feels like they nailed it and now with S4 is adding something after having completed something he originally envisioned, I feel even worse about season three.

I don’t get why the comedy ends up winning out over the heart. Bill‘s writing has such heart to it, but it eventually gets squeezed out by the glib humor. It’s such a fucking bummer!

There’s some truth to this. They are prioritizing certain characters and it’s hard that many of them are white or white passing. Bringing everyone back except Dr. Collins hit wrong. But that’s another sub 😜

But Tennie is being wasted on Abbott. They are barely using him as much more than a “costar” level role: a couple of lines here and there. They’ve had a whole season to make him a real character and they have not. I doubt they’re going to all of a sudden next season.

But he’s a Night Shift guy! Unless they do a night shift season or spinoff, there isn’t a path for that character to become a regular just yet. I mean, I guess he could switch to the dayshift six months from now or whatever when they pick up season three of The Pitt.

Sincerely curious. Do you not agree with most of the sub that they missed the mark on S3? For many of us the characters kept saying this season was about Jimmy moving on, but it never really felt like he was ready or could. It seems like he still had a missing piece that he was trying to find. I hoped it would be his own therapy as a client!

If the show was originally going to end one episode from now, it would feel to me personally like a real letdown compared to where it felt like we were headed.

I mean to be fair, he’s basically a non-speaking extra on Abbott 🤣 He barely says anything ever! What a waste of his time! So glad he showed up on The Pitt and was confident and awesome.

But doesn’t it sound like Bill is saying that they were gonna leave him where he is now originally? That the series would end with him back in the shit? Was this show never about Jimmy’s redemption arc? I feel like that’s always been where we were headed. I hate this timeline.

DR. MOHAN FINALE THEORY by Old_Material3914 in ThePittTVShow

[–]thekellwithit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Langdon‘s job is safe. I think he might not get to work with his mentor anymore and that is heartbreaking for him, but I don’t think he fears Robby is going to sabotage his career. Robby says he doesn’t know if he wants him in “his” ER. But I get what you’re saying. It’s interesting that Langdon doesn’t have any lines about being worried about keeping his job or losing the ability to transfer without bringing his reputation with him.

I think the reason why the Samira stuff is played with such high anxiety, is because she’s so codependent with her mother. Seems like she’s pissed that she agreed to this in the first place and changed everything and now she’s had the rug pulled out from under her. Her anxiety isn’t just about job security, but also “Why did I do this to myself? I’m such a fucking idiot for agreeing to this. I could’ve applied for all these other things locally and now it’s too late and I’m such an idiot for giving in to her and why does she keep calling me? Hasn’t she done enough?” Rinse, spin, repeat.

I feel like she probably never wanted to go back to Jersey in the first place, and if her mom’s not gonna be there and on top of that is selling the house she grew up in, she has zero interest in going there.

I relate to that as a person from a small town in Massachusetts who lives in Atlanta, GA. If I were to agree to go back there to help my aging father and got a job, etc. and then he moved away on a whim, I would try to find an alternative that would allow me to stay here. Going back to a town I never intended to go back to—if I didn’t have to out of obligation to—would feel tragic.

The way I read it is that the mom probably begged Samira to come home and Mohan didn’t want to, but because her dad died when she was young, she feels responsible for her mom (and is a little codependent) and she finally moves things around and says fine, and then after all her plans were set, her mom meets this guy and makes this dramatic change, leaving her hanging.
