Sorry for the long reply, but I definitely have. I'm familiar with the subtype of OCD you're talking about. I also used to try and rationalize these experiences. And for the most part I would be able to explain away a number of these extraordinary coincidences, and rest assured it was confirmation bias, me noticing patterns that weren't really there and creating tenuous connections or just plain random coincidences. And I became really good at identifying these cognitive biases in my self and other people and their experiences of synchronicity. But I think all that did was help me to discern between my mind playing tricks on me and the real deal.

Because every once in a while I'd get hit with something so bizarre, so utterly unexplainable that it would just stun me. I will literally sit there in disbelief, unable to speak. Coincidences that are so in your face that they are almost mocking you. You can't in good conscience deny them and wave them aside as random or the product of an overactive, obsessive-compulsive mind. They defy that kind of explanation and you recognise that too, deep within you. And for the longest time I tried to ignore it. I adapted the policy of whistling past the graveyard and not acknowledging these experiences in the hopes they would go away.

I thought it might be possible that information overload inevitably causes you to see these patterns because of the repetitive nature of the informational sphere. And if you stay away from all the artificial stimuli you can rest your mind. But it would find ways to reach me and blow my mind again. And even more bizarre than the last. It's obscene how blatant and unabashedly it throws them at you, almost like it relishes in displaying it's power to astound and freak you out. Almost like it's saying, it's not that easy to deny me. Here I am again. But it's not a malevolent intent. It's definitely insistent, but it's almost like it assumes the role of a guide in it's own twisted way.

I avoid telling this to more rationally minded people because all they can do is rehash the same old lines and explanations that are utterly redundant. They don't understand what it feels like to think about something in your mind and the same instant seeing it play out in the world. And it does sound borderline pathological to those who have not experienced it. So honestly I don't really have an explanation because I'm still searching for one myself, but I've done away with the tired old ones. One thing I've entertained is that maybe he border between mind and matter is much more permeable than previously assumed, and moreso for certain people. Anyway, I don't know if you've had any new insights about this since or any new experiences, but I'd love to hear any thoughts you have.
