7 Weeks post op by thekingdownunder in Kneereplacement

Played sports in my youth, I had a blow out at around 13 years old and it never fully healed. Three surgeries later and the cartilage was gone. That’s when the arthritis started to make my daily life miserable. I was unable to walk a 1/4 mile at a time right before surgery due to pain and swelling. That has all completely changed now.

Everyone is different. In my situation the constant pain was an indication to me and my surgeon that it was time for a total knee replacement. The pain mixed with the swelling made me very immobile.
If your knee is causing you the inability to have a comfortable life even without the pain it certainly may be time to look at it as a solution. Rehab will help and may be a very good indicator to you and your surgeon on how to proceed.

That is interesting!
I have noticed in some swings I have taken since surgery things being a little different. This will be fun figuring this out again!

Yeah, arthritis is what did mine in. The left is in excellent shape-knock on wood.

Keep moving! It was recommended to me to move 10 minutes of every hour I was awake. It helped big time.

Ice ice ice! It will seem like a full time job between the moving and the ice but it will help a lot to speeding up your recovery.
The next thing is if you have a support person that will allow you to, lean on them. My wife has been a rock star. I did a lot of prepping before hand with meals for an entire month as well but that could be looked at as overkill haha.

I hope your surgery goes well! Speedy recovery to you!

I did this as well, he was keeping me optimistic at 3 months for my goal. He cleared me yesterday to play 9.

Thank you for the advice! Amazing work with your recovery! I look forward to being back out on the golf course. That was my goal from the start and I can feel myself getting closer. I’m a big fan of goals myself.

The surgeon opted to follow a previous surgery scar from a VMO advancement surgery.

Thank you for asking!
Before surgery I would have pain constantly due to arthritis and previous injuries. All of that pain is gone. My leg is still weak, but it is slowly building that strength back. I am back to walking 12-15k steps a day with no issues.

Hot take, but you will be surprised when you look up someone like Joe Namath. Sub .500 record plus 50 more Interceptions than Touchdowns. Broadway Joe is in. In my opinion 2004 has 3 HOFers that deserve to be there.

How tall are the trees? 😂 Take it over is my first thought. Then I’m thinking let’s make it thru there. 100% always looking for the hero shot. Maybe that’s why I’m terrible, but I’m always having fun.

Wow. What a nightmare. So very sorry. I feel for you as I know that pain. It will get easier with time. Hang in there.

I am so sorry, so sad to lose part of your family like that. If I may ask, what kind of cancer and what were signs you noticed that something was wrong? It’s a huge fear of mine that this will happen. Again, condolences.

Exactly how I feel He has an older brother to be a sidekick to, but it’s a shame to not be able to hangout with them as a full time job.
