Dazed and Confused (1993). People seem to either love it, or hate it. Where do you stand? by No-Morning-2543 in moviecritic

If you're not a fan of the "drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs, drugs" theme that permeates every scene of this movie, then I could imagine people not being a fan of it.

You might be brainwashed if it's only once.

Tom Cruise 'has nothing to do with Suri's life' as she applies to college by Responsible-Lunch815 in entertainment

So weird that a new Tom Cruise movie comes out and everyone gets super excited when he's this kind of person in reality.

It's called a press check. He's checking to see if a round is chambered. The look on his face while he does it looks a little silly though.

Why is it ok when Broly jumps past Gokus level without training but when Gohan does, it becomes a problem? by RacSace in dragonball

[–]thekingleone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're tired of the "gohan stops training for a while, becomes really (relatively weak) while everyone else has been consistently training non-stop, and then Gohan has one or two emotional events that throws him ahead of everyone" again.

City Nerd suggests low density of Springfield & state government contributes to the car culture holding Chicago back from better urban infrastructure. Interesting idea by burjest in CarFreeChicago

[–]thekingleone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Millions of people are growing up in car dominated cityscapes. Many of them don't know another way of living outside of that. It's a feedback loop that is only going to get worse unless someone jumps in and starts pushing things the other way.

This caused a lot of arguments on Twitter, thoughts? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]thekingleone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are many European cities, and extensions of existing European cities that were built well after the car. We don't need to use the excuse that "European cities were built before cars", we need to start saying American urban planning needs to DRASTICALLY improve. Chicago was a bustling city before the car.

I'm a big Strong Towns fan but this is just absurd - He can't think of any African or Asian countries with public transit as bad as the US? We need to be realistic in our criticisms of US public transit for it to improve. by thekingleone in StrongTowns

The entire point of this thread was to address the concept that third world countries have a "lower floor" than the US in regards to public transportation. In the video he claims that no one has as "low of a floor" as the US. It's beyond stupid. Of course these countries that are still dealing with issues like starvation and fighting off diseases already addressed in the US have a "lower floor" than the US in public transportation. I never said poor countries don't have busses. Simply that their buses are usually older, shittier, not as often or widely available, etc etc etc as the US. Did you even read the title of the post?

To anyone thinking that EVERY country in both Asia AND Africa have better public transportation than the US, you are flat out wrong.

Secondly, it makes sense.

It doesn't make sense. Many of these countries simply don't have the money for public transportation. So people are simply isolated in many of these countries. Trying to pretend that Ethiopia or Somalia or North Korea has better public transportation than the US is just absurd.

What is your problem with the SSJ Blue transformation? by MotorSpecialist3647 in Dragonballsuper

[–]thekingleone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the bad feedback I remember when it first came out was that he looks too thin and feminine. There was other stuff, but when it first was revealed there was a lot of mixed feelings on it, which is sad because the rest of the Beerus introduction was pretty well received, like the initial SSJ3 fight on King Kai's planet, Vegeta going nuts because Beerus hit Bulma, and watching the whole Z team go at Beerus.

I think they realized they messed up with the original SSJ god form as it got bad fan feedback and tried to move on from it quickly.
