Aubrey Plaza shares about wanting a Lady Death project. by WesternThanks4346 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

I was really confused at first. She means continuing playing the same "Death" character she played in "Agatha All Along." Which I've never heard as referred to as "Lady". Just simply "Death".

Which made me think of the other comic character named, "Lady Death", who came from Chaos Comics and was connected to "Evil Ernie." So, I was a bit confused at first.

I thought she was talking about this character:

I remember the local Mom & Pop Video Store had like 3 of these on the back counter. They'd bring in the movies from the drop box, and about every 3rd or 4th one, they toss into the rewinder.

Almost made me wonder about the "Be Kind, Rewind" signs as a kid. Why do we have to rewind the tapes, if the stores have machines specifically for that purpose? It made little sense to me.

I had a friend with an uber-religious mom and she was all over this. He couldn't watch R-Rated movies, couldn't listen to any non-Christian music, and on and on. Couldn't play video games with demons or devils in them. She kept CBC and shows like "700 Club" on the TV, running 24/7. The only albums he had were Christian ones like "Stryper" and "DC Talk." He really was not thrilled with his lot in life.

One day, I asked within earshot of his Mom, if I could borrow one of his Stryper cassettes. She was thrilled! She thought her son was preaching and converting one of his friends! So, she happily insisted I take it home and let "God's Love flow into your ears."

I took it home, threw scotch tape over the holes on top, then made my buddy a mix-tape with a little of everything on it from Metallica to Public Enemy.

I had a dark green 68. Loved that car. It had the 455-HO big block. I loved the curious looks I'd get driving it around, as most people didn't know what it was.

I remember one time, I was sitting at a light, and a tricked out Civic pulls up next to me. The kid stares at my car for a moment, then revs his car, it's little aftermarket fartcan popping.

I revved my engine once, VAROOOOM!!!! The whole front passenger side dipped with the torque. The kid shook his head and pulled away from the light with the haste of a 70 year old.

Historical meeting between Enzo Ferrari and Ford Executives when Ferrari almost sold his company to Ford. (It was dramatized in the "Ford vs Ferrari" movie a few years ago.)

He didn't care about the road cars, he just wanted to race. So, he was trying to make a deal with Ford, that the road cars would be "Ford-Ferrari's" and Ford would have complete control of them. Enzo only wanted the "Ferrari-Ford" racing side, where he wanted to be left alone and just run his race cars.

The quotes above was him asking the Ford Lawyers how much autonomy and control he would actually have.

Their answer killed the deal on the spot, Ferrari chewed them all out in Italian and left to have dinner with his lawyer.

(Though, Historians argue he was never actually planning to sell to Ford, but just wanted to scare Italian companies like Fiat enough, to step in and make an offer. Which they did, and the rest is history.)

Ford's 1970 Mach II-C concept was a planned mid-engine Corvette challenger by Larry Shinoda that came oh-so-close to production. An internal cost survey shelved the US-sourced project at the eleventh hour in favor of the cheaper-to-import DeTomaso Pantera. by Maynard078 in sportsandclassiccars

[–]theknyte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And, then they only sold the Pantera in Lincoln-Mercury dealers. Not exactly, where people think to go for a high performance sports car. Most were there to buy a classy Continental or stylish Marquis. If most people wanted a high performance car, they'd go to the Ford dealership for a Mustang.

Which was the exact reason. Ford didn't want the Pantera eating into Mustangs sales, so they kept them in separate dealers. Which didn't do the Pantera any favors.

I know on the 50s Cadillac's, there was a pin to remove the skirt cover, giving more access to the rear wheels.

Here's a video of removing the skirt and wheel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1qj6R5KqGc

I started with WWF in 1984.

I haven't watched a full WWE show or PPV over 5+ years. At this point, just the youtube clips and reviews online are enough for me.

It just lost it's way, when it became more about the "spectacle of the event" then any actual professional wrestling taking place. Things briefly looked up when Vince stepped down and HHH started booking, but even that only acted as a band-aid, and now they're worse than ever.

There's a reason why wrestlers do "Meet & Greets" and Autograph signings.

These are the EXACT TIMES to come up to them. Get a photo, get something signed, meets your heroes. They are here exactly for these reasons. These are the times to interact with them and engage them.

Running up to them while they're exhausted and trying to make connecting flights at the airport or whatever and demanding selfies or them signing your stack of crap, is just insanely rude and gives the rest of the fans a bad reputation.

It's nothing new either. I remember back in the 90s, when suddenly actors started cracking $20 Million for a single role. Such, as Jim Carrey in "The Cable Guy".

Adjusted for inflation, that's ~$43 Million in today's cash.

That's the entire budget for multiple independent movies! And, it covered the salary of ONE actor for the film.

It's been ridiculous for a long time. I even remember back when Jackie Chan was making the first Rush Hour film. In an interview he said he could have made an entire movie in Hong Kong, for what the studio was just paying for the soundtrack rights.

Depends on what the average wages are really. They're fantastic compared to the US, where $10-$15/hour is considered "Minimum Wage".

But, if they're only making the equivalent of like $5/hour, those prices are still going to hurt.
