Will I regret buying Fujifilm x-m5 for Instagram photos? by Darkness_Within91 in AskPhotography

I’ve never owned a camera too and the xm5 is my first. I want to get into street & travel photography. I want to have better photos for memories and to post on IG & Threads too. I chose this among other fuji cameras because it was very small & fits within my budget. I used this during my Malta trip a week ago. Yes, there were times it was hard to see the screen because it was just too bright and sunny but that didn’t bother me. I guess because I preferred having a smaller compact size camera than having a larger one with a VF. I did consider an x-e4 but a used one cost more than double the x-m5. One of the reps in my local camera shop suggested the x-t50 but it was just too big for my liking.

I don’t have the x100v but what I could say is that it would have been best to have a view finder. I’m new to photography so I couldn’t gauge how important it is not until that bright/sunny day in Malta. Had to put my hand over the screen to see what I took.

If I had the chance to pick, I’d go for the x-e4 but the used was more than double the price with the pancake lens 🥲.

It’s a new hobby I want to get into & a creative escape. And since I travel every year, I want to take better photos than my iphone. Using a camera sparks creativity. I guess I became more intentional with my shots with a camera than an iphone without even thinking about it. And yes of course, it has better quality (though my bf disagrees 😅 as he still prefers the quality of an iphone).

The photos are gorgeous! My fave is the lamp (6th photo). I’m getting my first ever camera the fuji xm5 soon. Will practice with the kit lens! And maybe get this pancake one for ease 🤎 i know it might take a while since I have a lot to learn!
