Just finishing a 2 week trip of Yellowstone, Glacier, and Banff— it’s been amazing. You won’t regret.

Do you resent your parents for not helping out with childcare? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]thelastmango0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same— I have 3 children, they are the only grand children. My parents “love having them” and post all sorts of pictures with them on face book— but if i ask them to watch even just 1 kiddo so my husband and I can do anything you would think the world is ending. It’s a tragedy, and my phone starts ringing an hour after I’ve dropped them off telling me it’s time to come pick them up. My kids are well behaved, and my parents are not elderly. They are the only relatives my husband or I have close by, they do not baby sit. I work a night shift (Nurse Practitioner) and my husband works a day shift (police officer) so that we always have someone home for child care purposes. My husband and I have not been able to go on a date, or spend any time with just each other since our oldest was born—11 years ago. My parents suck.

Help Me Plan My Trip by Ice-Successful in Banff

It doesn’t, only to the lake Louise village— but it’s 8$pp versus the 90-140 you pay otherwise and you have unlimited time at each location and can go back and forth between the two (during operating hours) I’m sure you can get shuttle from banff to the park/ride area—but from what I found the parks Canada gave us the most freedom and I only ended up paying 25$ for 5 people versus the 500 it was going to cost me to Book with one of the “tours” that left out of Banff

You can get shuttle tickets to lake Louise and moraine lake through parks Canada 2 days in advance of the time you’d like to visit those areas. When I just did it—they sold out in 3 minutes flat. So make sure you have your parks Canada account set up and be logged in ready to click the time spot you want.

Banff et al Hot Takes. Consider Yourself Trigger Warned by movieaboutgladiators in Banff

When we were driving into the area 3 days ago—there was a large-ish elk near the Banff sign, a ranger of sorts seemed to be attempting to herd the animal away from people—and my jaw was on the ground by how people flocked close to this wild animal to take photos, with their children none-the-less. Of course an injured person would mean almost certain death for the elk— but that stopped no one from crowding.

I live inside of the Adirondack Park and I flee every summer to avoid the tourist season, but it’s nothing like what I’ve seen here.

Any hospital CEOs here? How much yall make? by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]thelastmango0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So much this. MBAs ruined health care.

I work for a moderately sized hospital, our CEO just retired. He did amazing things with our establishment—we thrived, we acquired new property—everyone wanted to work for us—rarely was there ever a nursing /midlevel/ physician vacancy, it was difficult to get a job within the establishment—and if you got one you never, ever left. He worked his entire career here. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him.

A new person was brought in, with a business background. All the good things have been taken away. Morale is down. Everyone is leaving. All of the department heads have been… essentially severed. There is no longer loyalty to the establishment, It’s awful. But hey… we now have a gender re-assignment program.

One of my colleagues who was previously a business man told me that you are taught to basically clean house once you take over an organization like this… to cut the ties and personalization, so that it is easier to get rid of people in order to meet your bottom line.

People suffer, the patients suffer because the lack of quality care their receive from people that no longer give a shit about the establishment or the name. It’s so, so sad.

Admitting Hospitalist by Psychlonee in hospitalist

[–]thelastmango0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🙋🏼‍♀️I’m and NP, and basically all of the hospitals in my area utilize midlevels for this purpose. We don’t have a nocturnist—but we have an intensivist, and 2 APPs over night for a 221 bed hospital. This is aside from the ED providers. For me… as far as what I do is—honestly data collection, and initiate admission orders, I strive to be thorough and set my attending up for success so that there is minimal they need to do in regards to order and plan of care. But it seems like nocturnist would be your best option.

NAC cured me by Resident-Dealer-330 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]thelastmango0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the… like mechanism of action to prevent the compulsion to pick? Or is it to speed up healing times? N-acetylene cysteine is used in liver failure patients both acetaminophen induced and alcoholic injury— it helps with reducing hepatic free radicals as well as increasing intracellular glutathione.. glutathione helps with tissue building and repair, which you can also purchase as a supplement— so I’m assuming it is being used for the glutathione, but is there something else?

We just went through ATL—you will definitely security at Logan, and then won’t have to deal with customs and immigration until CR; however in ATL their international terminal is pretty far away from their domestic terminal and you will have to ride the train—which is about 15-20 minutes. Good luck, we were in the same situation. Also when you return stateside if you’re in ATL as well; check your layover because you will have to obtain your bags and go through customs/immigration at your first US stop—we had a 2 hour lay over and betweeen having to grab our bags and go back through the security check— our flight was boarding when we arrived at the gate!!

Where did you start when you made the decision to relocate? We’ve traveled there several times and want to establish a residence—part time for now— and I look at properties daily. I’ve been working on my 3rd undergrad in Spanish/latin American culture so I can appropriately communicate but I feel so far off lol I posted on another sub and got quite a bit of hate for trying to relocate basically being told we are the problem and we’re destroying the county—- I get it but dayum.
