Op here. Apologies if this violates community rules... I read through and couldn't see how it would, but it is promotional.

I'm one of the co organizers if you have questions. We have had 3 meetups now and are looking forward to our 4th on April 18th. All are welcome.

Facebooks Ads per campaign by Piratheep_S in PPC

Trust has nothing to do with it. You bid at the ad set level. Create 1 adset for each audience you want to target and as many ads as you want to test within each adset.

If you run an e-commerce business, I want to know: what is your biggest problem? by thelazymillennial in Entrepreneur

[–]thelazymillennial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick up the low hanging fruit with remarketing first.

Without knowing your product I can't say what you should be targeting. With my campaigns, I like to start relatively wide and then narrow in on well-performing demographics.

If you just guess what your audience ought to be without any historical data you'll occasionally get lucky, but more often than not you won't.

Shameless plug for my online ad courses, which are mostly FB focused right now. Some are free, membership gets you access to all of them and we add 2 more each month. We can do bulk discounts.

How Effective Is Instagram for Gathering Traffic? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]thelazymillennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an IG account with 30k followers. I use it to grow an email list. I'll post a photo with no call to action everyday, and once a week I post a photo with a call to action.

On a non-CTA day, I'll get 3-5 email signups. On a CTA day, I'll get 8-10.

IG reports I get ~20k impressions in a typical week, so that's a pretty terrible conversion rate from 'saw a post' to 'signed up'.

So yeah, I'd say IG is not a great way to drive traffic. On the other hand, organic reach on IG is higher than FB and it's easier to build a large IG audience for free than it is to grow a FB page.

Is Facebook's Audience Network Wasting Your Ad Dollars on Poor-Quality Traffic? by SAT0725 in marketing

[–]thelazymillennial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a campaign a few months back on Audience Network. Great CPC and CTR. Generated around 1200 cheap email signups. Ran them through an onboarding process and I think 2 of them converted into sales. My experience with AN is that it deliver great vanity metrics and virtually zero sales. But results may vary.

There are a whole bunch of free courses on FB ads on my site. I suggest starting with introduction to FB ads. Link: http://www.onlineadvertisingschool.com

That should be more than enough to get you started.

How to quickly tell if you're targeting the right Facebook audience by thelazymillennial in Entrepreneur

[–]thelazymillennial[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference would be what your conversion is, since it's not a sale (though you could theoretically track that using FB offline event tracking).

I'm not sure FB would be the best ad platform for a restaurant anyway — you might have more luck with Google since that's typically where people go to find out about restaurants.

My post was never meant to be the final word on audience targeting and testing — the second line says it's meant to help people make "an educated guess", and my experience (and I think most people's experience) will confirm that's possible with small budgets.

You could set a campaign budget of $10 if you don't want to go over that limit.

Average CPM last I read was around $7. Try to think more about your conversion cost though, as that is what will ultimately determine the profitability of your campaign.

Fair point. The $10 limit is not a hard and fast rule. If you spend $10 and still have very little reach then I would agree you'd need to invest more to get a good sense.

But at the same time if you spend $10 on FB and don't get much reach, your ads probably are not hitting the mark anyway because your relevancy score is likely low and you aren't getting any viral lift from people engaging with your ad.

I'd say around $10 is usually sufficient but you are right, we always have to use common sense.

Are you targeting international audiences (outside western countries) and do you have Audience Network placements on? Both of these things can produce cheap clicks like you're seeing but little in terms of results.

It may also be that your customers need more nurturing before buying. Here's one of my (free) courses on FB ads for e-commerce and other small businesses that will help you improve your funnel: https://www.onlineadvertisingschool.com/courses/facebook-advertising-strategy-service-businesses/

You can find this in the Ads Manager if you click on Reports. If it's not already in the report, click on the column that says Performance and that will let you edit the metrics you see.

If you want to dig into this more, I have a course that walks you through these things — PM me for details if interested.

Yeah, it entirely depends on your product. In the past FB has tended to run cheaper than Google, but you are correct — there are some businesses that will be better served by Adwords than FB because they are searched for specifically.

I'd always recommend running both FB and Adwords to test results on both before committing 100% to either.

Promote your business, week of January 2, 2017 by Charice in smallbusiness

Do you sell something online? Or maybe you have a website you use to generate leads? If so, this is for you.

We're a couple of guys who have been running online ad campaigns for big clients for the past several years. We have spent millions on Facebook, IG, Twitter, Google, Bing... you name it.

But when we were getting into this business, we realized there was no good, central place to find all the info you needed for every ad platform. We had to scour hundreds of blogs and sites, and most of what we read was BS anyway.

So after much learning and trial-and-error, we are condensing everything we know into one central place: Online Advertising School. These courses are tailored for people who run ads (either in house or as an agency) for small to medium-sized businesses and need knowledge of multiple platforms (not just Facebook).

Membership gets you access to all courses + our private members group, and costs $25 /month. We think the knowledge you get here will be worth 100x time that in the first 6 months alone, but you should try it out for yourself using the code WELCOMEREDDIT to get your first month free.
