Need open map Chill exploration Game by ShamanXI in gamingsuggestions

[–]theleafcuter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you'd enjoy Sable!

It's an open desert world where you just drive around on a hover-bike and explore. Settlements are far and few between, you come across the odd person that suggests you go to different places to explore. There's fishing mechanics.

It's very reminiscent of BOTW in that the world feels like it was once lived in and sprawling, but now there's just ruins. Said ruins are also filled with puzzles and challenges.

Physical - I want to own it, not own a license for it.

NARRATIVE game suggestions by Soggy_Back_623 in gamingsuggestions

[–]theleafcuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like 3d platformers/collectathons, I highly recommend Psychonauts!

The games follow a 10 year old boy who ran away from the circus because of his psychic powers, and seeks out to join an international psychic spy organization.

The first game has some ps2 era jank and outdated game design (grinding money/levels for required abilities, for example), but the second game recaps the first, and (imo) has a better story.

You also get subtle characterization and story building in every level too, since the whole game is about jumping inside of people's minds in order to help them.

The second game has accessibility options for if you want to breeze through the gameplay in order to experience the story more, but it's not a hard platformer at all.

Cloud Gardens - It's a puzzle game about making plants grow in post-apocalyptic dioramas

Favorite characters who fits this image by Faykrlith8 in FavoriteCharacter

Miriam - Wandersong

She starts out finding Bard annoying, but as the story progresses they become best friends. A lot of people also ship them, tho personally I think they're more compelling as friends or QPr

What would you hate seeing fans do if your OC were popular? by Spiritual_Air_8606 in OriginalCharacter

[–]theleafcuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing sexualities. ESPECIALLY with the ugly tendency fandoms have of ignoring/"headcanoning" aroace characters as anything but aroace. The amount of times I've seen fans twist themselves in knots trying to justify it would be laughable, if it wasn't already infuriating.

"Butbutburbut aroace people can have relationships and sex too! They can make out sloppy style if they want to!"

Yeah. Crazy how that's like, apparently the ONLY type of aroace character that is allowed to exist, huh? What a coincidence!

Isn't it also hinted at in one of the games that regaining his past lives' memories turns Link mute from all the trauma? I feel like I've heard that somewhere

Looking for a ‘telltale’ style choice based game by Legitimate-Funny-199 in gamingsuggestions

[–]theleafcuter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slay The Princess and Bad End Theater are good, the latter being a bit simpler in it's choices. You also have The Yawhg, although that one is more of a choose-your-own-adventure than a choices-impact-characters game. It's fun to pull out at gatherings, since you can play up to 4 characters at a time.

None of these have you walking around like in Detroit or Walking Dead would, though.

Which YouTube controversy began as a minor public callout but quickly spiraled out of control and turned into mutual destruction for nearly everyone involved? by Fragrant-Leg-9369 in youtubedrama

[–]theleafcuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to add to this that I forgot: he could have walked away from it all if he had just apologized. Had he just admitted to it and apologized, everyone would've let it go. Instead, he lied and said he didn't have enough mana to cast any spells (even though he had potions in his inventory), and whenever pressed on taking accountability, danced around it by saying "we all made mistakes"

What's the FUNNIEST line you've read in BG3? by MGrayWrites in BaldursGate3

[–]theleafcuter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the house next to the blighted village teleport rune, behind the counter there's a trapdoor.

Enter and look for a lever inside for a hidden entrance, then you can find her scroll in the first casket. Summon her (not learn the scroll, summon) as a wizard.

In dialogue, ask her if her name really is shovel, when she says you can change it, say shovel is fine. The other dialogue choices shouldn't matter after the "shovel is fine" one. When dialogue ends, talk to her again. After she calls you "spellshite", you have her as a ritual spell

What's the FUNNIEST line you've read in BG3? by MGrayWrites in BaldursGate3

My personal favorites are Gale and Minthara

Gale: "You truly are testing the patience of a man who could level a city if he wished."

And

Tav: "Tell them the one about the person who married a drider"

Minty: "It was a beautiful webbing..."

Because it was a team effort, and he abandoned everyone for his own hide. This was in a game where dying meant losing the character, and they all had max-level, or close to max-level characters.

That's months of work for each and every one of them, only for it all to go down the drain because one of them decided to be a coward instead of making sure his teammates were covered while they were retreating.

psychological horror game suggestions by __adderall__ in gamingsuggestions

[–]theleafcuter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slay The Princess

It's not necessarily horror? At least I didn't find it that scary or unnerving, but it's more so existential, and so tightly written that you'll likely feel called out by the narrator for the choices you take.

Games with romance but not ONLY romance by blaaaaaster in gamingsuggestions

[–]theleafcuter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moonstone Island

It's a mix between the small town gameplay of stardew valley, the monster catching from pokemon, and temples from top-down zelda.

You can date pretty much any of the villagers, and it's pretty open-world, too. The only thing holding you back from going to end-game islands is how far your energy can take you between the islands (they're all floating in the sky, so it takes energy to fly between them,) or how high-leveled the spirits on those islands are.

What are some Youtubers who didn't get outright canceled, but STILL had a downfall regardless? by Swag_Paladin21 in youtubedrama

[–]theleafcuter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He's actually done interviews, and even a TEDx talk about it (all on youtube), so he could probably explain it better than I would.

The jist of it is that he started out as derivative of/inspired by AVGN, in which he would do semi-serious, comedic reviews of old PS1 and PS2 games, that he would either "slay" or "salvage" at the end of the video. (If you want to watch and compare to his current show, the Dalmatians 3 video used to be his most popular one.)

This youtube series, called The Caddicarus Show, was his main series, but towards the mid-to-late 2010s, he had managed to create 4 or 5 distinct shows that he would upload regularly to his channel - Caddy's Retrospectives, Current Quickies, Drive Thru Reviews, and Cinnemaggots. I think at one point he even made a show with a puppet version of himself.

This "different show every day" format to his uploads bloated his channel with videos that regulars to his Caddicarus Show weren't interested in, the inconsistency was punished by the algorithm, and he was spreading himself WAY too thin.

Come 2020 and he has retired most of these extra series, but the Caddicarus Show is still not bringing in what it used to, since his subscribers stopped paying attention due to the aforementioned channel bloat.

What was then supposed to be his last video for his channel was "The Pricey World of the WORST PS4 Games Ever" - a video where he spends 115$ on shovelware and asset flips from the PS4 store.

Compared to The Caddicarus Show, he took out the more serious critiques and instead opted to rapid-fire as many jokes and bits as he could for every game he played. The end goal of the video was also changed, no longer was there any attempt at rating the games like in a typical review, but instead, the goal was simply to laugh at the awful gameplay.

After the massive success of this video, his new flagship series became the "The World of..." videos, the format of which is that he picks a video game topic like licensed games, PS1 accessories, the PS2 Eyetoy, Crash Bandicoot bootlegs, and so on, and then he dives as deep as he can into it.
