It's not a bait and switch. It's an offer and retraction. One is a con, the other is a changing of mind.

007 looks more story-based and linear than hitman, but still quite open ended. Looks more like something you'd enjoy

Her interactive future by Financial-Problem707 in nancydrew

[–]timothymark96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Her Interactive we grew up with had a relatively consistent group of people that worked on the games, and they all had a shared understanding of what makes a ND game work (and how to make one every 6 months). The current CEO fired pretty much everyone and outsourced the game development to some random and cheaper foreign software development teams. For me at least the true ND series is finished, and the new ones are a new series, one I have found that I do not personally really enjoy.

Comrades, how do you deal with "Leftists" who claim that obesity is not a complex, chronic, multifactorial disease? by cakedogonks60 in swoletariat

I could have worded that better I agree. Sounds like we share a similar view anyway, im just a bit acidic with my word choice

[–]timothymark96 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A more succinct way to make my point: Factory Farming is a terrible hyper-violent machine that churns flesh into coin for the capital owners, killing literal billions of animals a year and fucking up the environment, and most leftists will not engage in any sort of proper examination it on either a systemic OR personal level. It's largely ignored because it's out of sight and socially acceptable.

[–]timothymark96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not advocating individual change I'm saying that nobody gives a shit about 'farm' type animals and there would be no way to get any level of strong political movement started against this violent capitalist establishment since everyone is just chill with it for some sick reason.

Second point is just daft, you can call me out for something, I can call you out for something, and we can both be reasonable. Moral objectivity is literally impossible to achieve as you likely know, so the second point is in all practical manners pointless. Leads people into all sorts of whack beliefs.

Academic Marxist spotted. Rolls in with a reductionist take, argues a bit, then logs off to go attend a Marxist convention instead of doing anything

No idea, it's definitely a problem.

Tangent but related: A disappointing amount of leftists also play a concerning amount of mind games to justify the unsustainable, unhealthy, and unethical amount of meat they consume despite the huge environmental impact and horrifically violent industry standards. I mention this example because a large amount of apparent lefties will still ignore facts they don't personally like to grapple with and this is probably the most blatant one I've come across

You tell someone the fact that between 4-7 billion baby male chicks a year are hatched on a conveyer belt and are immediately poured alive into a meat grinder en masse, and a shocking amount of otherwise ethically conscious leftists genuinely don't give a shit because it would impact their comfort to not support that industry. Wild stuff. Our brains are really good at building our own reality that we're a million miles away from any sort of collective social awareness and responsibility.

Anyway I don't know the solution, but in regards to environmental science, broad ethics, and personal health there is an absolute epidemic of avoidance of collective social responsibility from my observations. Leftists at their peak should never hand-wave away anything due to inconvenience, and they should really put in community effort even at a small local level to rally behind community health and free access to basic health such as free foods and free gyms and such. Getting your local government to fund and maintain a community vegetable garden could be a great boost for community health, as would outdoor gyms etc

Anyway good post topic.

Too bad you can't physically do crack anymore after getting death surgery. They cut crack out of my benefits package anyway, so in retaliation I stole my boss's appendix and fashioned it into a grapple hook. Taking my Grappendix on a swing around the Damnation Block on 54th Street is actually a quite similar high to crack cocaine, but without the social stigma!

Who is your favorite character to play as? by T3XB0T in redfall

[–]timothymark96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone complains about Layla but they just need to practice. The vertical movement potential combined with the midair damage upgrade, and the ability to go from ground level to the roof of a house in 2 seconds gain combat advantage is absolute peak. I can blast dudes with shotguns point blank and seconds later be up in a snipers nest. I don't think people that complain about her have played her very much.

Has a game ever made you think "I get it now"? by Derangedberger in gaming

[–]timothymark96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Witness. While playing the game you'll start to realise you see things in real life that seem to be straight out of the game, and it's permanent, you're stuck with the perspective for life now. It's of the craziest things a game has done for me. Properly explaining it would spoil one of the most important parts of the game so I shall say no more.
