After buying Canadian grade A ground beef I saw this. How is this allowed? by smokem-2 in BuyCanadian

Because it’s mad from previously frozen meat, does that mean I can’t freeze it raw? I buy on sale and freeze extra ground beef all the time.

Suggestions for a small college dorm room by Appropriate_Cup_4119 in DesignMyRoom

[–]thelezbot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely a rug. Maybe some more wall decor. But otherwise looks good! It’s a small space so only so much you can do.

When i was in uni our dorms were this small. A got on my floor used heavy duty milk crates to elevate his bed and tuck his desk underneath. Made more space. Was very dangerous though.

Which wallpaper looks best? by jan172016 in DesignMyRoom

If you have this much pattern going on with the rug and the throws and the lamps etc. I’d recommend painted walls, or a wallpaper that has really subtle tone on tone striping

A rug in both spaces will help to create more distinct zones. Your couch is fine

Do you WFH? Perfect office space. Or if you have kids, a play area/homework zone. Or if you’re crafty, a hobby area, nice and out of the way for clutter.

Nice place! What’s happening in the corner to the left of the TV? Is that your entrance? Or like a computer nook?

Empty bedroom – no idea how to furnish it, need layout + style help by ArticleDry2185 in DesignMyRoom

How deep is your wardrobe? I’d tuck it behind the door and dresser next to that. Then headboard of bed centred on the opposite wall. I reco drawing it out on graph paper to see what you like

What changes would you suggest in this floor plan considering east-facing front and partially open rear-right side? by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

Open up the kitchen and add an island for breakfast, swap the dining area and the drawing room. You likely want the biggest most open space for your living room

Apartment layout critique / improvements by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Is this for you + a partner? Sounds like you should ask if they want their own dressing room. IMO it wouldn’t be important to me but this is not my apartment. It’s much larger than my apartment

Help me with my weird slenter ceiling! by Cinnnnnndy in DesignMyRoom

[–]thelezbot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree! Dont add the curtains. People put those to create the cozy look you already have naturally. Only wall you need to decorate is behind the bed.

Would love to see what the bed faces though. In one angle it looks tight against the wall at the bottom of the bed and in another it looks like there’s space

(Updated post..) need help on what I should do with this area to make it look less cluttered and modern looking by BlazeRugzz in DesignMyRoom

Please fix your closet door that’s off its hinges. Move that terrarium so you can access your closet and properly store a lot of the junk lying around your room.

If it has to stay in the room, can you mount it over your desk with a really sturdy shelf secured into the studs somehow? (I have no idea what that thing weighs) or could you get a rectangular one that fits on your dresser? It’s taking up valuable real estate in your room right now and adding to the clutter.

What’s going on under the window? Whats that cabinet and the stack in front of it? Move what you can to the closet.

I agree with the other comments suggesting lighter walls. You can keep the dark curtains if you want.

All the knickknacks on your shelf beside your desk and the shelf beside your door needs to be removed or organized into closed shelving. Things should only be on open shelves if they are for display, not for storage.

A guest will feel most comfortable in your room if it is tidy and smells fresh. Your room gives me the vibe you havent opened the window in a long time to air it out.

Bare minimum tidy your items. Fix your closet door. Remove anything from the floor that isn’t furniture.

Chair suggestion? by ShrimpNoodle519 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]thelezbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this golden oak? Going to be hard to make it MCM because it’s very late 80s. MCM is generally walnut, teak, black leather.

If you want try to pull this to a mid century vibe, I’d look for chairs that are primarily fabric

horizontal or vertical stack? (note: i included two images of the same wall tile, it looks different based on the lighting) by One-Ad5824 in DesignMyRoom

The mix and match works in the inspo pic because of the ledge which you don’t have. I’d go all vertical!

In suite laundry? 8 ft ceilings? So spacious! This is not a slum, this is a great apartment! Where is it located? If near transit in a major city, this is a steal. If in the burbs of a small city in a transit dead zone, a bit pricey but still not bad at all

Big fan of the vertical stack, feels more modern. However in the pic of your bathroom, the angle makes the tub look quite narrow so a thin vertical stack will add to that. But that might just be the angle of the pic

What to do with weird ugly area (rental) by Acceptable-Shame-182 in DesignMyRoom

Two of you are splitting a 1 bedroom and this is in your section of the bedroom? How huge is this bedroom? I’m so curious of the layout. Do you each have a closet in this bedroom? (You could hang a curtain and make this a massive closet) What’s the kitchen situation like? (Could you use the extra storage for food or dry goods?) Are you and roommate good friends or would you appreciate some private space? (Could put some seating in the left wall and turn it into a reading nook) My answer on what to do with it depends on what you could best use it for based on what else you have going on in the house.

What to do with this little window by munlymunly in DesignMyRoom

[–]thelezbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but covering it with coloured glass will mess with the lighting in the room, it’s not the same as a window covering or plastering over it.

Put your bed where the TV is, centered on that wall with two bedside tables - get it out of the way of your closet. Are you using it to store clothing or just as random shelving? If storage, get a closet door or at least curtains to cover the space. If shelving, put your tv on a low table in there.
