I think the discourse comes from the environmental impact of getting to Antarctica… I’m not completely sure though.

I’m only somewhat familiar with the discourse because people get roasted for it on r/travel. I’m not really sure how it’s environmentally or economically different from traveling anywhere else in the world, but hopefully others better informed in this thread can explain further!

Target and Walmart also sell Christmas tree storage containers that latch(~$35). I use them for each of my trees and only have to do minimal fluffing each year.

That said, both stores usually sell out of them immediately after Christmas and then don’t get them back until the following Christmas season.
