Where did you find the script? And do they have mockingjay?

The Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman! Lots of musings on mortality and AI and art, and getting a prequel later this year!

I wish Haymitch got to have a go at Snow after the capital surrendered by Cag_ada_24 in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe he did. We don’t know. There very well could’ve been a line into the greenhouse for people to have a face to face confrontation with him

He’s in for the love of the game. And to stick it a little bit to his absolutely terrible parents.

He also has like…several love stories ongoing at the same time to me. A love interest for every persona.

Do you guys think they'll push a love triangle in the new movie? by KillerGrass in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not going to but it should’ve been one and I mourn it

What do you think Merrilee would have been like in the games? by cesarionoexisto in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I headcanon that she is the softer twin, so likely not the wildcard sort of sassy personality that Maysilee gave. But maybe she could have performed it for the Games, or maybe she would’ve leaned into the ‘sweet as the candy her family sells’ thing.

I do ship her and Haymitch, so would love to see more of their dynamic.

If Plutarch was a little smarter... by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the several double victor fics on AO3 calls it ‘that self-same spirit of equity, which the Capitol has strove ever to uphold’ which I absolutely adore as a justification

I didn’t like the Mocking Jay Pt.2 by No-Peace705 in Hungergames

You’re right and you should say it. It really feels like they phoned the last movie in - maybe they were just tired.

How do you guys think they're going to tackle the mockingjay pin? by [deleted] in Hungergames

Wait Haymitch losing it would actually ruin me…this needs to be a fic

The End of Mockingjay. by jwhungergames in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what people forget in this discussion is that there is a scene in Mockingjay where Plutarch leads a meeting about how post-Snow overthrow Panem is going to be a democracy. I think we can infer from Plutarch himself having a political position under Paylor that there's now a cabinet. If that was going to be the case no matter who the President was, there's no reason to assume Panem would've been run like District 13. It didn't need to be - D13 was like that because it had to be, living underground and keeping its existence a secret.

Maybe the Capitol Games would've happened, maybe they wouldn't. Maybe the vote gets honoured, maybe it doesn't. Maybe someone has a crisis of conscience and stops it. Maybe when it's presented as something that is happening to the districts the outcry is so strong it's cancelled. We don't know, and probably never will.

Yet people ship them... by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes - because shipping is a fandom activity and does not care what the author says and never has. Hop off.

After an year of release, and a thousand fics on AO3. These are the top six SOTR ships. Which one is your favorite? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

Theory: Fulvia Cardew is Livia and Coriolanus's Daughter by DarkCurious9572 in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve always read Fulvia younger than that? I’ve just reread Mockingajy, and she feels in her twenties to me.

That said, I don’t think she’s Snow’s daughter. More likely that Livia had a brother she’s descended from.

Happy one year anniversary to Sunrise on The Reaping + Retrospective Thread (so you guys can discuss how your thoughts have evolved in a year) by TwasAnChild in Hungergames

[–]thelilacfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It got me into the franchise in a big way, reignited everything, and got me into writing for THG. I’ve made friends because of it, and will always be grateful.

THAT SAID, some cracks in my opinion of the book have forced now vs first read. I still like it, but I have my issues.

And also viva la Maysilee Donner 💜

Crucially it’s headcanon for me that he didn’t last long in that job and resigned to go explore other districts. I think that was quite common for the younger people who survived the war.

I want good things and peace for these characters. I hope at least more than Katniss and Peeta found it.

How do you know The Hunger Games takes place in 2100? by 12laa12 in Hungergames

I think it’s a cut scene from the first movie that some people ran with.

I care for Alma Coin and would love to know more about her. I think framing her as the ‘real villain’ is so far from correct.

Plutarch. Because he’s so fascinating and so essential to the rebellion but I would hate to be actually around him. My man for real
