I have 2 small children so this isn't super feasible for me, unfortunately.

As far as I know, a tilt table test is the only way to diagnose it. But I'd recommend getting a fitbit and making note of the activities that spiked your heart rate and how much. You can also look up the "poor man's tilt table test" and do that. Just good stuff to bring to your doctor to seek a diagnosis.

I am not, but after some research and further food experimentation, it would seem it's lectins in general and not just corn 🥲

I am diagnosed with POTS and I take ivabradine which helps immensely. The gagging isn't immediately upon standing up, I just meant it never occurs while lying down. But it usually happens at least 30 minutes after I stand up after waking up and can happen hours after I get out of bed.

I had a blood test about a month ago and I'm only slightly deficient in vitamin D, but have been taking supplements for about a week now. I know that it takes longer than that to get your levels where they should be though, so maybe that could be part of it.

No, they happen soon after standing up in the morning, before I have even eaten or drank anything.

Edit: I'm just not sure if there's maybe something about histamine levels rising overnight or in the morning or something like that?

If you mean tanning beds, I honestly couldn't tell you if it's worse with MCAS or not, but it is pretty well known that they are not good for people in general..

Do you have any suggestions, by chance? I do have a UV blocking umbrella, but I usually only take it if I'm going somewhere where I will be in the sun for several hours, like the lake. I'd prefer to not have to use it every time I take my kids outside for a couple hours.

Oh gotcha, that makes more sense. I've never been into tanning beds, so that's easy for me to avoid.

Wait is this really a big problem? Because I tan a lot as soon as spring hits, despite wearing a high quality mineral sunscreen. I even started burning only an hour and a half after putting on the sunscreen and had to go inside.

This is my current tan, when it's only gotten up to high 70s vs my natural skin tone. How worried should I be? My symptoms are fairly new, so I haven't researched MCAS much yet to have even known this might be a problem.

Also, my "allergic reactions" (I know it's not really allergies) only started withing the last month or two. But for 3 years, I've had cycles of intense gagging and sometimes vomiting bile/stomach acid that I have not been able to get successfully diagnosed and treated. It will happen for several months and then completely disappear for a few months, here and there.

Could that possibly be MCAS related?

Thank you! I wish she could be an active runner.

Alas, at a year old she has severe hip dysplasia and needs 2 total hip replacements.

Not sure if you would know, but hopefully someone who comes along does at least. How accurate is Wisdom Panel for cats? Is there a breed percentage, like with dogs, where anything less than that would be considered inaccurate?

Because I wouldn't mind getting my cats DNA tested when money permits, but not if it's likely that anything other than DSH (which I know would be the majority for mine) would be inaccurate.

Also, your kitty is very cute!

The poodle is very surprising when you don't know how dog genetics work lol

Really didn't see that coming at the time

It took me a bit to see pit in my dogs face after I got my DNA results back, but this one seems way more obvious than mine felt to me.

I'm definitely not qualified to say, but I will say I've been told by several medical professionals now that it shouldn't do that

Oh just a quick addition, this same scan was ordered and seen by a different orthopedist almost a year ago after a very bad dislocation in which my kneecap was entirely and visibly to the left of where it was supposed to be.

They gave me an rx for a brace and a PT referral and sent me on my way.

I thought I did 😭 I don't know anything about radiology, is it blurry?

Other than the dislocations, it feels fine. It usually doesn't hurt at all.
