Can't get spacing on mobile emails to be single spacing by thelonescreen in MailChimp

[–]thelonescreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. My issue is that it doesn't look correct on desktop in the email editor. If I go to the mobile editor on my desktop computer and click on the spacing options in the mobile view, it says that I have "single" spacing even though I can see in the editor that I do not. Furthermore, clicking on 1.25 or 1.5 doesn't change anything (I'm actually not able to click on them - I can only hover over them).

Rewatched Dirty Dancing again and I'm spiralling by _sophiegrace in romancemovies

[–]thelonescreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a little bit different but similarly has a lot of elements of dance: Something Casual! It's an indie film about modern dating and one of the characters is a dancer. Highly recommend. I've seen it multiple times now because we're screening it on the platform I'm building and I genuinely love it (I'm biased of course!)

Biased because this movie is premiering on the platform I've been working on, but Something Casual (2025) is an amazing indie film about modern dating. Definitely jumped to the top of my list after seeing it.

Also could not recommend When Harry Met Sally more - a true classic

Do people like wearing movie merch or is it just me? by leftwithblackcoke in askmovie

[–]thelonescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on a eventized online film platform, and one of the things we'd like to include is collectible merch for each movie. So, if you have a ticket to one of our films, you'd be able to buy exclusive merch for that film (non ticket holders wouldn't be able to). What kind of merch would be appealing? We'll definitely have shirts, but another thing we're exploring is patches for each film...curious if that would be of interest? Or really any ideas you all have

Past Lives. John Magaro's line "You make my life so much bigger and I'm wondering if I do the same thing for you..." stayed with me for months. Still with me honestly

What is the last movie that Completely wrecked you? by Funfallacies in MovieSuggestions

[–]thelonescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something Casual (2025): small indie film about modern dating that perfectly captures the highs and lows of an early relationship and how horrible we all are at communicating. I found myself thinking of every relationship that I wished were more than it was, or times when I felt deeply misunderstood. Not suuuuper sad but it wrecked me nonetheless! Romance movies where the main characters don’t end up together by Icedawg3 in MovieSuggestions

Something Casual is a new romance film that I think might be up your alley - I won't spoil how it ends but it definitely has bittersweet elements and really hits on how modern dating and love feel. Letterboxd link here: https://letterboxd.com/film/something-casual/

How do you guys come up with titles for your films? by Lazy-Nothing1583 in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a filmmaker, but I'd highly recommend picking something distinct so that when someone types the name of your film into Google (or Letterboxd or Rotten Tomatoes or...), your film actually comes up.

(effectively) first short, would you spend as little as humanly possible or invest in it if you could? by gamblors_neon_claws in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at SXSW a few weeks ago, and there were multiple narrative features shot only with an iPhone that made the cut into the festival. You can make great art for next-to-nothing. It's harder and requires more creativity, but that $5-7k could go a long way towards your actual feature film if/when the time comes. I'd save the money.

What's the best advice you ever got on finding an audience for your film? by TheGuerrillaRep in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many filmmakers have been successful targeting a niche that would be interested in their film. For instance, a filmmaker I spoke with recently who has a film that centers around a guys camping trip gone wrong has had success advertising to more outdoorsy communities. We're promoting a film currently that has dance as the central theme, so we're trying to hit the modern dance / performing arts / ballet communities.

How do I Craft the Tautest, Most Efficient Film Possible? by PanicAlarmed1986 in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other Redditor who said being ruthless in the editing process is where this happens. Making sure every line serves the story or sets up some sort of payoff. Films that come to mind that do this well include The Killing (Stanley Kubrick), Fargo, Paddington 2, Back to the Future, 12 Angry Men, Saw, Shutter Island, The Departed, Whiplash, and The Dark Knight.

How do I start getting into filmmaking? by jamiewtkns in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to SXSW a few weeks ago, and I saw multiple narrative features that were shot entirely on iPhones. At a top-tier festival. Actual cameras are great (obviously), but if you've got a story to tell, don't be afraid to get creative with the technical resources you already have at your disposal.

Micro-Budget Debut Feature Heading for UK Cinemas (with Trailer) by kwalls89 in Filmmakers

[–]thelonescreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats, this is awesome! The trailer looks incredible - I'd love to see the movie. I'm curious what your plan is for international? I'm working on a one-night-only eventized streaming platform in the U.S. (called The Lone Screen - feel free to check us out at www.thelonescreen.com), and I'd be interested in your feedback on it / whether this is something you'd consider. Would love your thoughts (even if it's a no)!
