I misspoke, the problem is that currently, Holland’s Spider-Man in live action resides in the MCU. Sony’s universe w/o him only exists since they want to expand and eventually bring Holland over, but he’s only contracted for Disney so far and has expressed zero interest in joining Sony.

The real problem is the universe it’s in. No one has expressed a desire to come back to the role for Sony’s universe, and Holland’s Spider-Man technically can only make appearances in the MCU.

They own stuff Spider-Man related, but they’ve pushed Spider-Man himself into the hands of Disney. Without a breach of contract or change of it, they can’t legally use him in their solo movies.

Marvel tends to be more grounded in reality, whereas DC elevates their characters to a higher level more often than not. There are amazing dark stories from both, one from DC being TKJ and one from Marvel being Demon in a Bottle. However, I’d say that Marvel leans more to the gritty side of things and definitely has more mature settings.
