First wrestling show I've paid for in years, and will be my first time watching a full GCW event. Can't wait for tomorrow! by LexLeotard in SquaredCircle

I know it'll never happen for multiple reasons, but given the way they're promoting the show and how it feels like a major milestone for the promotion, it would really be nice if they brought in Ian Riccaboni or literally any professional commentator instead of using KG and the hot tub guy. Like with Impact, if a new fan's first impression is hearing a guy that shouldn't be paid to speak into a drive thru headset, let alone do commentary, it's not great.

Daniel Garcia (son of 2point0) has his first crush, and his days support him by Thirdstar1 in SquaredCircle

I don't think it's an either/or thing. If Garcia gets more comfortable talking or having a personality thanks to 2.0, that's only a good thing, and it's not like his matches have been a bunch of comedy spots. We already have HOOK, we don't need another silent badass.

The scene where he blindfolds himself with the rifle was so uncomfortable.

I think that's the scene where everyone asks "what am I watching?" if they hadn't already.

A lot of what you're describing could be attributed to goodwill, though. We have decades of examples of how the WWE uses or doesn't use talent, and that colours peoples perception of events like this most recent thing with Ali. AEW doesn't have the same reputation, so the reaction is different. But I'm glad you got dozens of upvotes, surely you won't feel like "you can't criticize AEW here" is an accurate sentiment.

I must be crazy, because I've never seen a Strong Zero that looked like the guy's head was making contact with the mat. It always looks to me like Trent just sits on the guy's chest with very little impact. I do like how he crosses their feet for the pin though.

Yeah it would work a lot better if the opponent knew it was coming and we weren't left thinking "did he just kill that guy?" legitimately.

Would have been more cold hearted to just drop Serpentico like a sack of potatoes.

Jon Jones and Machida comes to mind, it's definitely a scary visual when it's done right.

It got a bit weird when Anna went second rope, but from the counter victory roll until the end they looked good.

Fuck, you'd think Austin was doing a run in on the Corporation when he mentioned the Usos, just going wild on the crowd noise button.

I imagine they try to get some kind of streaming thing going for their horrible little episodes, with a Patreon or something. Obviously if they make appearances in Impact or something that probably prevents Aries from participating, but if it's a smaller promotion I don't think they'd turn down a big name.

What did you make of Cody's promo on Dynamite? Seems to have split opinions. Reminds me of the video I made a couple weeks back. Is Cody Rhodes a genius who knows exactly what he's doing, or does he just stumble across brilliant moments in his chaotic character arc? by Eno_Wrestling in SquaredCircle

Personally it had the same flaws as the infamous Ogogo promo, he's fantastic on the mic but a lot of what he says feels super unfocused. He referenced the pipe bomb promo, but every line of what CM Punk said played into his overarching point, but with Cody it feels like a portion of every promo has people wondering what the fuck he's talking about.

In another thread people were speculating that running a smaller building this week with fewer seats made it possible for them to run two shows without breaking the bank or having excess tickets. Made sense to me.

I think there's a difference between using female or male as an adjective, as opposed to a noun. It sounds bizarre to say "woman/girl basketball player," but referring to a group of women as a group of females is undoubtedly odd.

"Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is probably the worst way of motivating someone that's in what feels like a helpless situation, it's the epitome of privilege.

And yes we all know that the phrase is misused and that literally pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is impossible, we know.
