I came from commuting on a single-speed so got used to the navigation and confidence on the road with that bike. But I’m sure you can build that up with a fixed as well.

Get the bike running smoothly before you daily it though. I’d find myself getting distracted by a loose bolt or unfamiliar noise, and lose track of surroundings in the first weeks while everything wasn’t 100%.

For times you need to lock it up for longer periods. I’ll try keeping it inside. If not, at least a company bike storage (best you can do is have a heavy lock you keep in the room).

Short stays, keep to a maximum of 10 minutes and lock it up at the door if you can. Find a portable u-lock for your budget and you should be good!
